OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Good morning everyone, I hope today is a great letter day for everyone. Remember Monday is a holiday so any letters next week may be delayed a day in arrival. This is the time of year that my daughter went to boot camp. She actually left on May 25th 2010 and I was lucky enough to get a real letter before the form letter arrived because of Memorial Day. I hope you all get nice letters as well :)

PS, Poochie is doing much better and we are sure he will make a full recovery :) Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers. You guys are awesome!!!

mrsb: Happy to hear you received a letter! None for me either ProudNavyMom#1, maybe tomorrow is our day. My SR is also going to Groton.

Comment by mrsb on May 22, 2013 at 10:34pm

Hello ProudNavyMom#1, he said he would be shipping out early on the 8th, which is what I've been hearing anyway.  He has to be back at barracks at 2000, which is 8 pm?  Hey, at least we'll have friday to spend with him.  I wish there was more time but that will do!

Comment by ProudNavyMom#1 on May 22, 2013 at 9:53pm

mrsb, no letter for me today. hoping for tomorrow.  my SR is also going to Groton. did your SR tell you how long his liberty call would be? Fri only, longer?

Der, are the ribbons like the ones my dad got in the Air Force?

Comment by mrsb on May 22, 2013 at 9:32pm

Good evening my friends!  Got a letter today-woohoo!!!  He is just so excited about everything right now-so good to hear!!  He got his orders and his official training starts on the 24th in Groton.  Also said he earned two ribbons, one for sharpshooter and a National Defense ribbon for enlisting in war time.  Can anyone describe them for me?  I'm sure there is a place to see them here, somewhere!  He also told me BS date but I won't tell!!!  It's a secret!!  :)  So good to hear the excitement in his "voice".  Lord, I can't wait to see him!!  Hooyah!!

I just ordered grad cards from the website "Greeting Card Universe"  Below is the link to the Navy PIR cards.  You can order and pick up at Target within a few hours.  There is no Target near me, so I have to use postal mail. The cards are really nice.

How nice for all of you getting letters. Thank you for sharing them. Has anyone heard how ship 12 division 218 is doing?
Comment by Roni on May 22, 2013 at 8:12pm

Thank you CatMom509, I didn't think about that.  He did say in his letter that his division is doing great and possibly holding extra flags during PIR.  I'm still so bummed that I missed his call.

I can't wait to see him.  Were are so excited!
