Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 197 and 198

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Thank you........

My daughter hates the bed.......has anyone else's kid complained about the bed?  What is wrong with the bed?

The beds they have are not much more than a metal cot with a thin mattress. :) The top of the rack opens to the storage below, that is where their things are stowed. The bags on the end of the racks stow dress uniforms, PT gear, and outerwear.

My SR is div 197. I have received the first letter with all the graduation info, but have yet to receive a hand written letter. I have received one phone call, but no other phone calls. Wish I knew how he is doing and how things are going. Ugh!
Every time I hear one of the songs we sang together, or see things that remind me of my son in div. 197 I began crying. So not used to being a way from my son. I am proud of him, but I sure miss him. I pray I get a letter or a call soon. :'(

My SR daughter called today!  DIV 197 She said she's a little sick sore throat really runny nose but other than that OK...she said they are working with guns 9mm taking them apart cleaning them etc.  She said the guys were having a hard-ish time making their racks and so the Div 197 females (females is what they are actually called by the RDCs were told to go make the guys racks!  She also said they have had fitness tests she didn't pass the run but hopes next time she will.  She said the food is good but she can't seems to eat quick enough and finds her tummy GROWLING about an hour before chow time, she also says it helps her get through whatever she's doing...thinking only 2 hours to chow.  LOL!  She's made friends with 2 females who are mamas and a few who are not mamas but older females...she describes all her friends as smart sweet strong girls.  Over all she sounded very positive and optimistic!  WHEW what a relief to hear!  I hope with all my heart you all hear from your SRs soon if you haven't already.  I spent the last 2 weeks with nothing and that was TOUGH.

I also get a call from my daughter today........she said her bed is too hard, but she is getting used to it.  She said she was up at 5:50 this morning and she actually thanked me for teaching her how to make her rack before she got there........she sounded great!!!

I'm so glad you moms got to hear from your girls too! My daughter said that she loves it there but was complaining about getting up so early, of course! She everybody's really pretty cool & that they barely get time to think as every minute they are busy studying, they even study when they're standing up haha! I really missed her today as we had the annual city wide garage sale and we always used to have a blast going together.

I know the feeling.  I would see something on TV that I know she would like and I would go into her room to tell her and she wouldn't be there.........I am standing there staring at an empty room, wondering where that piece of my heart is.  It was there the other day, telling me "on the next commercial", or "as soon as my show is over"...........and now it is just gone........and then the waterworks start.

And then the questions:  Is she okay?  Are people going to be nice to her?  Is she remembering everything we worked on together before she left?  What is she doing right now?  Is she going to write?  Is she going to call?

I found myself sitting on her bed, hugging her penguin pillow wanting her home, because she is too little to be away from home.  It doesn't matter that she is almost 19 and she was and is ready for this.

Wow, am I going crazy?  I am going crazy. You weren't like this with the other 5.  But the other 5 are not my baby, it's different.  How is it different?  I don't know, it's just different.  For 30 years there has been a kid in my house, and now there is just silence........and it is deafening!!!

Soooo, after 4 days of that, I boxed up everything she owns, put it in storage at her sister's house, put the house on the market, sold it in 6 days and bought a camper.  Now I do not have to whine and cry every time I see her things.

Time for Mom and Dad to have their adventure.  I am so proud of my daughter and cannot wait to see her at graduation!!!

Don't worry, you're not going crazy all alone, I am right there with ya! :) That's great that you get to travel now, enjoy!

I got the first call from my daughter today! Was so awesome to finally hear her voice, she's been gone 3 weeks yesterday!!

Yeah!!!  I also got a call from my daughter.  She is sounding stronger(not sure if that is the right term to use) every time I talk to her.  I can't wait to see her!!!
