OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Jacob94mom... not keeping secrets, just giving God his time.. We knew your baby was going to make it .. prayers for safe travels, and see you all soon :)

Safe travel today!  Remember Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight!

Be early for PIR tomorrow.....remember, if driving, stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC).  Car line will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around near the train station, wherever you can safely.  Head back to RTC from the opposite direction....easy left turn into RTC, no waiting!

Enjoy!

It's our turn people! I know a few of you are already at GL and some are on the way right now. I'll be hitting the road about noon from here. It's been a tearful, stressful and now joyful ride to say the least. My Sailor posted on his Facebook thanking everyone for the letters and encouragement. He said it was tough at times, but 100 percent worth it. I hope he can keep that attitude going into 211 days of A school. (Which I hear can be rough as week). I just can't wait for that garage door to open and see ALL of our sailors march through! For the few not marching tomorrow- keep your and their heads up- we are just as proud of them. They worked just as hard and even harder. They will make it! As I just found out yesterday mine made it by the skin of his teeth! I also know that a couple people were holding secrets! Ahem!! Lol No worries. I'm sure I would have flipped out if I knew. Maybe that's why he didn't get to call. Got to get busy here! See you soon! Be LOUD AND PROUD!
