~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning everyone, My internet was down for two days last week because of storms and when it was finally back up I could not get on this site at all. It was so weird. I ended up having to change my password but couldn't remember the password for my old email I used when joining this site. What a mess lol. I hate having so many passwords lol. I hope you all had a great weekend.

We have our sailor/daughter and grand baby home on leave for a few more days. I can't believe it has been almost 4 years since she joined. She will be getting out of the Navy the end of this month and will be headed to CA soon to join her husband who is also in the Navy and based there. Once she is there she will join the Navy Active Reserves so that will be a whole new experience for her and really for me too. My SIL re-enlisted for 6 more years so it will probably be a long time before they have a chance to move back to the east coast and closer to home. I am going to CA to visit them in June, my first flight ever :-\ lol

and if you live in the San Diego area let me know. We will be having a meet and greet for Navy Moms/families while I am there in June :)

Amen, USwife/momMary.  I so agree!  I just read that on my son's former ship, they have installed "sailor phones" that the sailors will now be able to use when deployed to call home....of course, they pay for them, but they won't have to wait until they are in port to "phone home."  So the Navy is aware of the importance for sailors/families to try and have more personal contact.  Of course, with only 20 sailor phones and over 5,000 sailors on this ship, the lines would be mighty long!  But at least it is something.

RE: the lack of calls for some:  My son was delayed in training a week when he was there.  His first division was allowed to make lots of calls....he left that division when in training week 3 and I believe he had already called here about 3-4 times by then.  But in his new division, very few (if any!) calls until the I'm a Sailor call.  He told me this 2nd division seemed much more serious and focused than his first division was.  But, it is totally up to the RDCs in charge of a division as far as how often they can call.  And, some will always miss division calls due to watches, appts on base, maybe SIQ (Sick in Quarters which means they miss calls too).  Just keep the phones close....because you don't want to miss any calls when they finally come in!

Good Morning All !

Boot camp trains our loved ones to be Sailors, but it also helps train us for what life will be like when our loved ones are out in the fleet. No communication is very hard, but just like our SRs are learning to deal with IT and all the demands boot camp places on them, we each have to learn how to deal with not knowing what's going on with our SRs and the lack of communication. I've been a Navy wife for a LONG time and it's still hard, but you do learn the best way for you personally to deal with the changes. Lean on your new Navy family and remind yourself no news is good news. Remind yourself that before long you will be with you Sailor in person and believe it or not you will laugh at some of this. Hang in Navy Sisters!!!

Gals,

The divisions in this PIR might have gone into their intense training time where they are working hard to earn flags for barracks, drills, marching, academics, etc... requirements.  These are the flags that they proudly carry in front of their divisions when they march in during PIR.  Each of them also design a special division flag that are available as t-shirt after PIR and you will be able to call in to order them.  The company's contact info will be up in the "Division T-shirts, Graduation photos, etc..." up in the Pages section on the upper right of this page.

Some of the RDCs tell them to let their families know of no calls for a few weeks on their last phone call and some do not.  In the meantime, you have their weekly letters to look forward to so keep on writing!!  There may be 1 last call before the "I'm a Sailor" call, so stay alert with your phones~~

thanks girls for the replies;  I do know that they got paid this past week and they should have money for phone cards if they needed them.  Still getting letters; last one May 10th, no call in two weeks.  Will be interesting to get her letter on Thursday, I hope!  Hang in there girls, glad we can keep eachother posted!

We haven't heard from our SR ( also in DIV 931 anchorasaweigh) since the Thursday before Mothers Day-we know he's writing letters-family and friends are keeping us posted. I bought a phone card to send to him today in case that's why he hasn't called...

yeah, makes me wonder.  My daughter is in 931; didn't get a call last week either because she was on watch.  yeah, hell week is this week right?

Comment by anchorsaweigh on May 18, 2014 at 11:31pm

No call today :( what's up with that????  UGH!  I know that's got to be hard on them.

Comment by Jacob94mom on May 18, 2014 at 5:53pm
No calls here.. Still waiting to hear his voice. I dreamed last night he was sent home for the weekend because his DIV got in trouble. (I was reading before I went to sleep that the brother DIV were making calls) now what sense does that make? His face was also swollen in the dream because they had pulled his wisdom teeth. Which I know they are waiting to do at A school.
