For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If someone in 197-200 didn't receive a call yesterday, it could be that your sailor had "watch." That happens---hopefully that sailor can call this weekend. Be sure to be checking their FB's too since some may have gotten on those and posted and may have not gotten time on the phones.

I got the official I am a sailor call yesterday too. Division 198. He was exhausted after being up over 30 hours. I know all of you will get good calls next week. :). Thank you for the exciting journey and support. I can't wait to meet y'all at Sarges meet and Greet and PIR

Lala,
We have large green signs posted on the left center of our freeways that list the next 3 exits coming up. Should be like that all over our state. Then on the right a sign with the next street exit coming up should be there and an Exit no right at that exit.

Lala - I grew up and lived in So Cal most of my life. I never knew exits were numbered until I moved to Kentucky, we just watched for names! Glad you're having a good time, be sure to check out the Hotel Del!

Hi everyone, still on vacation with my daughter and grand baby in CA. We went to the Zoo today and had a great time.
The best part of CA is by far the weather. Warm days but not too hot, always a breeze blowing, cool nights and no humidity and not a drop of rain since I got here. The worst part, OMG the interstates!!!! It is so hard to know where you are going even with GPS because the exit numbers are not clearly marked. There is no warning or signs saying what exit is coming up. I don't know how you all get to where you are going lol Tomorrow or today depending on what time zone you are in right now lol is our Southern CA/San Diego Navy Mom Meet and greet. We have 25+ people coming and I am so excited to meet them. :)
