~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning ladies, just wanted to write a note to say hello. hope everyone is doing ok.
Good Morning All !
Good Morning everyone, I hope today is less stormy for everyone in the path of the tornadoes. My eyes filled with tears this morning watching the news about the school with the missing children. If you live anywhere near those areas keep your phone close by. Recruits are often allowed to make calls home to check on families in the path of devastation like this. We can't be sure they will call but keep your phone close by and maybe even put a message on it saying if this is "John" we are all fine and going to be very mad we missed your call please leave a message and let us know you are good as well and please try to call again or call "grandma/dad/aunt" etc. Or you could leave a different number for them to call and repeat it at the end because they won't have any way to write the number down. I hope you all and your families are okay. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Wow, time after bootcamp sure does fly. My son-in-law's PTS was approved so at least another 5 years in the Navy :)
Mam4real, it is normally two years before they can try and change jobs. Then it depends on if the job they have and the job they want are over or under manned. My daughter wanted to change jobs and when the first two years were up she tried but the only way she could was to enlist for 5 more years and there was no guarantee she would get the job she wanted. There are so many factors that determine what they can do and it can be different for each Sailor depending on their circumstances. I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope it works out the way he wants.
Good morning ladies.
My heart and prayers go out to all in the areas of the devastating weather incidents in the past few days.
Good Morning all,
Hope all are safe and sound this morning!
Mam4real,
So nice to hear that your SR is looking at his life plan from a long range aspect--shows he is getting away from the "living in the moment" mentality! :)
Maybe another veteran mom can answer your question about when they can change their rating?
Prayers for comfort and help for the devastating losses in Oklahoma~~
Hi everyone. I have been absent from writing in a while, but have been reading the posts. Sounds like letters and some call have been rec'd. I rec'd my 2nd call last week, was so excited - did not expect it so soon! What a great late mothers day call. He sounded really good though. I even rec'd the survey back from him, stuffed in a small envelope. Too funny. Was great to hear from him. We are getting so close - can not wait for PIR! Hang in there everyone!
Exp N4M - during my call, my SR sounded a bit dissapointed in the job/school he was going to. He did sign up for this with recruiter, it was more important to him to get in right away and change jobs later. He mentioned having an interest in becoming a MA. It sounds like he is scheduled to have school in GreatLakes for the job he signed up for. I was curious how long do they need to commit to the job they signed up for before being able to apply/transfer to a different program? The good news is, that I can see being in the Navy as a SR has already helped him realize he is capable of great things and he cares about his future and his part in the Navy family for the long term. Just looking for some guidance. Thanks!!
So I was kind of panicking, I hadn't seen my good camera since my SR left April 16 and we've moved since then. Found it!!!!!! YIPPEE
And today is 3-4 looks like, basic seamanship skills. This should be interesting since my son has never been a boater. His Grandparents owned a marina in Stonybrook, NY and his dad sails, so hope it's in his blood
