Ok ladies, I'd like to know where everybody is from and follow it with your division number.  I'm from Texas, an hour from Houston. Division 178.

I wish they were coming to VA, I would love to go to that and it would give me a chance to go see my Sailors again :-)

Ok Ladies - here is more on the Navy week.  I misunderstood yesterday.  It appears they will be going to Puerto Rico next; being the next country.  But while here they are visiting many states.  Apparetnly they do a few cities in each country.  Here is their link..........http://www.navyweek.org/   they in fact ARE comign to Houston in October!  And remember each week they are in your city they do a lot of stuff.  Like today, they are playing baseball against each other.  They have a parade, they put on shows, all kind of stuff!

Star, LOVED the pictures..how can we tell where they are headed next? By your post, doesn't look like Texas is on he list!

Thanks ya'll.  Touring the Navy boats was a reassuring experience.  All the sailors we talked to were so proud to speak to us and answer any questions we might have had.  And the foreign ones were so amazed at our country.

The carrier was HUGE! It literally took us three hours to tour it.  We didnt' get to see the whole ship but was able to look through the guns, mortars adn missile launchers, sit in all the machines, tanks, trucks, boats, and look into the hospital and kitchen in addition to go on to the flight deck and get into the helicopter and more vehicles.  It was an awesome day.

The sailors sitting at the tables in a row, were wearing the 'summer' suit.  And the lady in blue standing by them was wearing her 'working' suit.  This was the area the sailors on Liberty had to go to, to get back onto the boat.

And yes FTLW, these gentleman were great models adn very sweet, caring and careful assisting me handle this heavy stuff.  It was fun.

The boats were here for a week in the city and are on a tour of seven ports; New Orleans being the first.  They are heading to Puerto Rico tomorow, and includes, New York, California, Italy and Europe and I forget the rest.

We were told that on these tours the first day and the last day, all sailors wear their Summer (white) uniforms.  I bet that is a site to see.

There were two of the sailing vessels which were pretty old.  We couldn't believe they would even use these in the field of battle.  When we asked about this, we were informed these were 'training' boats.  These young sailors travel on these boats just as they would be the real them adn they simulate situations and they learn.  The sailor from Equador that explained this was so excited and informative (from what we can understand).

When the boats came up the river they came in parade style.  We couldn't be there because it was on a Tuesday and well, some people have to work, but parts of it was highligthed on the news.  The amazing thing was those sailboats had sailors standing at arms length apart from each other on each cross beam of those mast.  It was amazing.  I'm going to see if I can find a picture of it somewhere!  It's an image I'll never forget.

If you ever have the opportunity to go to Navy Week anywhere close to your home town - even if you have to drive an hour or two...........GO!  It was a great experience as a Navy Mom! <3

Yay, another group. I know you are all anxious to get started and have this bootcamp experience behind you :-) The good thing is you won't have to worry about snow lol. And your Sailors will graduate in the Dress White Uniforms or Cracker Jack's as they are sometimes called. Shout Wipes will become your Sailors new best friend lol.

I am Lora, better known as Lala the Ribbon Queen lol. I have been on this site for 2 years. My daughter left for bootcamp May 25th 2010. I cannot believe it has been that long. It seems like on a few short months ago. I know 8 weeks seems like an eternity but it will be over before you know it. The days will drag by but the weeks will pass quickly :-) For now get your pen to paper and start writing those letters. Mail call is the sweetest sound in the world to the recruits other than when they get to call home and hear your voice :-) Even if they said you don't have to write do it anyway. They will change their mind. Write every day if at all possible. You and your recruit will be glad you did.

If you have any questions at all please ask them on this page. There are several of us who are hear every day helping out and answering questions and we love it. We spend most of our time on the main PIR group main pages like this one and have several PIR groups that we are active on. So, we may not always find your questions if they are posted on discussion pages instead of here.

Have a great time getting to know your new NAVY family. They will understand you and what you are going through better than you own family will on most days. Welcome to Navy for Moms!!!

Please go ahead and start your Division Discussions. Here is how:

How to add a Discussion - Go to the bottom left corner of the Discussion Forum area (It's actually just above the comment box here.) and click "Add a Discussion".

Fill in the Title and any description you like.

For DIV discussion Titles a suggestion would be:

SHIP ##/ DIV ###

Simple as that! Then the other members from your div can reply and you can connect up even closer there.

Please, only one discussion per Division, Thanks!

Remember that you are ALL part of this TG though and to stay on the main pages to talk here too! Plus, we veteran moms mostly stay on the main pages of the groups. There are 7-8 PIR groups running at one time and so we do not get to the DF's as much. We do check them as often as we can...OPSEC rules apply there also.
