Happy Mother's Day! I'm thankful for all you ladies out there who are feeling a little lost without their sons or daughters on a mothers day without them. We should tell future recruits to buy birthday or mother/father's day card before they go if they are going to be at boot camp on one of those occasions. I think they would truly want to but none of us would think of it with all that goes on before they go! I think that's what I'm missing the most today (besides him) is the sweet cards he always picked out for me himself. I'll just treasure those memories today and wait for our call sometime next week. That "3-week" point is coming! We can make it if they can! Hang in there and have a happy mother's day!

If any of you have been following the whale beaching that is happening down here in S. Florida, our Navy sailors were a part of the rescue operation and were interviewed the other day about their part in this.  They were very happy to be helping!

Linda- If I remember correctly the Brochure doesn't have a lot of stuff that you really need. It tells about PIR and  it has hotel listed on it. We stayed at the Navy Lodge, I think it was $65 a night and we got a room with a kitchen for that same price. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Since you are flying I would recommend renting a car. YOu can get one for the whole weekend for less than what a taxi ride from either airport to the hotel will cost. I have also heard that is may be less expensive to fly into Milwaukee than Ohare and the drive is only a few mile more but the traffic is not near as bad as coming from Chicago. And Southwest Airlines has some pretty good deal with no change fee and the first 2 checked bags are usually free. I hope that helps :-)

So, still waiting for any communication with my son, except the form letter---hoping tomorrow is the day--would be the best mother's day gift in the world!!  I'm always wondering what he is doing.
