Our son is Ship 3 Div 209. We received the box on 4/27 and the first letter yesterday 5/2. His 3-liner was up beat and he said he was enjoying the challenges. Loved the remark about smelling his clothers when they came back...I did the same thing and loved the visual image of him taking his oath in those clothes. We are very excited about PIR and are planning to stay with friends who live in Chicago for the weekend. So glad to have this connection. I 've been on BC for Moms since last November- long before he even started DEP meetings so it has been great to get all the information and read about how others are feeling. Great for the Carl Vinson families....great ship, great task, great day!

Kathym--that's the same issue we have!!  But there are no overnight flights, so just purchased tickets for my mom and step father to fly out to Chicago!!  So sad we are going to miss my son's graduation though.

Audrey, We found out that our son is ship 03, div 210 from the recruiter, havent checked the mail, left the same day as yours. We were hoping for 6/24 grad because his brother grads HS on 6/16, looks like we're taking an overnight flight from the west coast!

The USS Carl Vinson was the Navy ship that received Bin Laden's body, prepared it for burial, and buried it at sea.  Check out the Carl Vinson group on here.  Those ladies are pretty excited that their sailors are a part of history!

This is pretty cool with all of us going through the same things at the same time Ya'll, I have to say I am bursting with so much pride and I know Ya'll are the only people who can grasp this wonderful feeling. Other people I talk to just don't have a clue I am so grateful to have Ya'll to talk with...I love Ya'll

Hi everyone, I received my son's box on Wednesday, April 27th and I received his letter on Saturday.  He is on Ship 09 Division 205.  I was so excited to received the letter.  I miss him so much but I am so proud of him at the same time.  I can't wait to see him at graduation!!  I may be a little ahead of myself but I already booked the airlines and the hotel.  Looking forward to June 17th!!!!!  Hopefully I'll get to meet some moms also.  Take care and talk to you all soon!
