Archangel:  What your daughter may mean about the cell is that they can't return to RTC with it.  But she can have it if you meet her at the airport (if she is flying out) or once she has moved onto GL A School base and had liberty (can return to GL A School base with it) if she is staying there for A School.

Got a call from my SR today.  Did you KC'smom?!  He said they weren't allowed to call yesterday because the guys and gals were caught exchanging notes and doing other such things they were forbidden to do.  So the girls called yesterday and the guys called today.

BTW! My SR got another promotion... even in RCU!  That's crazy....He's now a RMAA (Recruit Master-at-Arms)!  It blows my mind. :P

He is actually on the fence now with whether he wants to stay in or not.  =\  He wants to be here for my family, but he also wants to support us.  I think the only real thing keeping him there is the fear that he wouldn't be able to get a job to support a family when coming back... I keep telling him to do whatever makes him have no regrets.

Pianomom-I'm so happy the "float chant" worked.  lol  Giraffe- Sleep?  Heck NO! Mine can take a shower and eat, of course, but since he is grad and go, he can sleep on the plane!  ha ha I don't want to miss a second with him.

As far as the "black bags",  Walmart sells a great collapsable zipper duffel that folds and zips to the size of a manila folder.  I'm taking the bag, a few civies, a puzzle book, his phone and electronics and a BUNCH of homemade brownies.  Then, we can pick him up anything else he wants and I'm letting him choose what to take.  I'll bring home the rest.  Then, if there is anything else from home he wants, I'll mail it to him.

Because my SR is the oldest one in his div., they have named him "Grandpa" - that cracks me up and he wasn't the one who told me. Can't wait to tease him him but wait I guess that makes me "Grandma".

to KC'smom--i can tell you for a fact that many, many people have been praying for our SR and God said "yes" to those prayers and has allowed him to pass this particular hurdle in his life.  we are very, very thankful..  he still has some pneumonia but is finishing his antibiotic.  hopefully, he will heal completely before the next big deal.  not sure how "fire fighting" at BS will affect that.

thank you to each one of you who asked God for mercy for him.

grateful for you all--your kind words and encouragements all along this journey.

Thank you Moms!  Good information to know.  My daughter wants me to bring her cell but told me to take it home she couldn't keep it.  She may not know that she is allowed to yet.  I will bring a few things for her.  We have an Army/Navy store nearby I may just go there and she if they sell backpacks or duffles and get one there.

I want to thank all of your for your good information and sharing of your stories. It is very much appreciated.  I wish all of your children the best of luck in whatever and wherever they may be doing and going.   God bless them all!!!

Wow, Pianomom!!!  that is a miracle!!  you were so worried. No "water phobia" for him after all!!!  hahhaha. He did it!!

Ari'sMom:  Yes, you can bring a solid black or Navy bag (to be used when in their dress uniforms)--backpack or carryone duffle---packed with her personal things...or wait and buy when there.  Some worry that stores will run out of them there, so they buy it ahead of time and bring with them.  Sunny is correct:  There can be no logos, colors, etc on them.  You can use a seam ripper to remove those things or color in colors with a permanent cloth marker.

Sunny:  Jessica/Donna are correct. Make sure that he brings his Navy-issued swimsuit for the hot tub.  He should be aware of this--so don't worry.  They have this pounded into their heads before PIR!  HA!  And they are threatened with retention at RTC or loss of liberty if they violate the rules---for them and the whole division on loss of liberty!  So you will find that most all will want to comply.

meryl:  So glad that your son made it through!  And as far as the way that RDC talked to KC's SR...well, par for the course at bootcamp(yelling)...sigh...all part of them realizing that they have permanently left that division and will not be returning to it...and to focus forward and not backward.  Hard for the SRs to do since they make such wonderful friends there, but they really do have to move forward....

Many take a small towel to PIR and with them all day for their new sailors to sit on in their dress whites.  Six Flags on PIR day is NOT recommended for this reason...they have to be in their dress whites.  They will get filthy!  :-)
