N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

meme:  Not sure what you are talking about, needs to update?  Unless you mean....that RTC needs to post the divisions in this PIR group (true) on their website.  That maybe is what someone meant by "update."  Once they do this, ellen will post them in the title of this PIR group.  The date will NOT change, if that is what you were thinking.  This is the PIR date for sure for this PIR group.

Good Morning All !

How come The PIR for 6-19-15 states.it needs to update? What does that mean?
Comment by ellen0502 on May 5, 2015 at 3:28am

Rcmom, The ships at RTC are their quarters. The recruits eat, sleep, study etc. in their ship. Ship 4 is named USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51). For the purpose of mail etc, you only use the Ship number.

The division number, 218, means that your recruit is in the 218 division in the Navy's fiscal year. "Regular divisions", those not an 8** or 9** division are formed numerically as recruits arrive.

There may be some recruits in the same division that will head off together to A School, but there is no designation or specialties in regular divisions. The only two divisions who have "specialties" are the 800 and 900 divisions. The 900 divisions are for BC only, and the 800 divisions are all spec ops recruits.

Ok, new to all of this. I just received my son's form letter. Anyone out they have someone on ship 4 Div 218? What does that mean? Is he with the people who will be with him at A school? Does the Div signify a specialty?
