N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I decorated my store at Christmas in Blue and White.

I cry a lot when I read navy 4 mom posts.  Part of my sadness got cured when I found that he had backed into my car and swore the one still at home (3rd foster kid) to secrecy.  Funny thing my bumpers are rubber and it only hurt his pride and joy red car.

All I had my melt down in the middle of Walmart in one of those electric carts.  I was just shy of one week of having knee surgery on the day my SR left.  I asked him to call before he boarded his plane so I could here his voice instead of just a text message.  So when he called I pulled my cart over.  I did good until his voice cracked as he said "bye".  After we hung up, the water works let loose.  I had crutches flying everywhere.  I sat there just literally bawling my eyes out trying to keep my crutches under control.  This nice older lady stopped and asked if I was OK, and I couldn't even answer her.  I just cried harder.  Finally I calmed down to explain what happened and she just hugged me.  I can finally talk about it without crying.  My family thought it was kinda funny. I can sorta laugh now, kinda!  My heart still aches though.. :(

Navy wife  did you try putting it in a ziplock with dry rice?  It works wonders.

I am so glad I'm not the only one with these over flowing emotions!  When I saw that some got letters today I came home at lunch and checked my mailbox. Nothing.....I cried all the way back to work.  I never realized that when my son left for BC I would be going into my own type of "BC".  This waiting is agonizing!!  I know we will get through it but right now it's very very hard.

I agree, Kim. Like everyone has said, I'm sad every day, but the phone call this weekend, and I got my first letter from him today, make me believe that I can do it. I have the same episodes passing by his room, sitting at his computer, picking up his favorite foods at the store. What gets me through is prayer, keeping busy, writing to him, and knowing that he is well taken care of for this time in basic training. I'm proud, but I miss him a ton. Glad we have each other on here!
