~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thought this airfare chart may help you all:
http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/blog/3801087/airline-fee-chart/
On Southwest, we aren't talking about it being "refundable" but rather if you need to change reservations because of a delay in your SR's training, etc, you don't have to pay a change fee. Just a difference in fare (which could be cheaper!). Two bags check for free too, which is a nice savings. If you have to cancel your ticket for any reason, you can use it during the next year. They fly into Milwaukee (45 minutes to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL).
Although RTC suggests booking refundable tickets with an airlines, they are very pricey. Change fees for other airlines are usually about $150/per ticket. That is usually better option to take a chance on.
Not sure if there is another airlines that doesn't charge the change fee. Someone recently mentioned Spirit as having good rates.
I would at least go ahead and book your hotel. Those are filling fast since it is summer for your PIR and there is a water park nearby. So, the suite hotels especially fill up because of that and PIR. No problem changing/cancelling a hotel reservation, usually up until the day before/day of arrival.
Springhill Suites and Residence Inn are good suite hotels, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR, and 4-5 miles from RTC. Courtyard Inn is right there too. Navy Lodge is another good choice, but they may not have a suite big enough for a large group. Residence has 2 bdrm 2 bth suites with sleeper sofa....full kitchens.....for larger groups. We stayed there and enjoyed it. Navy Lodge and Residence are pet friendly also! Some who are driving may consider bringing pets to reunite with sailors!
Karen: You need to contact Sarge about pricing for his transportation service. I do know that if you "share" one of his cabs from the airport with other families here, it is less for each. Here is his page on this site. You can email him from there (he has an email address outside of N4Moms that he prefers you use):

When my phone rang Saturday I had a store full of people and I just answered and took off for the store room for 20 min. A friend was there who knows how to handle the cash register and they all guessed what was going on and took care of things. Thank God for such great friends.
diannep Is there info on pricing for Sarge's transportation service. Not sure if I want to have to worry about driving. Also is Southwest the only one with refundable flights that you know of. I see everyone booking hotels and flights. I guess I need to get a move on.
My daughter is aviation. I'm glad she'll be a tad closer to home when she does go to A school.
