Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

NavyWife: There are already 2 MeetandGreets scheduled for your PIR group the night before PIR. One will be at the Ramada; one will be SARGE's---close to Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, and Courtyard Inn (all good hotels). Although your PIR date is not posted yet to the right of this page, under the EVENTS column, you can actually read about both MeetandGreets from another PIR group. So, no need to schedule your own! Both of these are good, but SARGE's will have the most info. Your group will be posted in a couple of more weeks where you can then RSVP.

I did the shopping on Tuesdays & Wednesday that was advised. I was able to get a nonstop for $216.00 round trip. Southwest will also allow you to change your flight if needed.

I got a call from my husband yesterday and was VERY surprised and elated! He said that they should be able to get mail today so he'll get the letters that we have sent. :)

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on May 5, 2013 at 1:54pm: Imomxfour. Mine are twins, turn19 tomorrow. Twin1 left for BC early November, his PIR was 1-4. He is in Pensacola also for IT. He finishes in four weeks. Twin 2 followed his twins lead and in at GL now (4-26) he is a nuke. We should be sure to meet and hug on 6-21.
