N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got my call! I was in the middle of the grocery store & maneuvered myself in to a secluded corner :) She is very homesick, but so are the other girls with her. So, i guess they lean on each other for support. Still have not gotten the form letter, but she was able to tell me she is in ship 02 div 932, so she'll be performing during PIR. She'll be holding the South Carolina flag, a bit disappointed because she is a PROUD Texan :) She also said the group reminds her of her dance/drill team group because they get in trouble for talking. Oh, she's also picked on for her Southern drawl!

Ellen0502  Sam said that basically the guys that were there sat around for a week doing nothing then started, their PIR is still 6-21 but from both ends (the ones that waited and the ones who came 4-29) the training will be one week shorter.  So they have to cram in all they need to pass Battlestations.  He did say that these divisions work well together.

diannep, No, I don't know for sure about 235/236,  just saw the post about someone saying they were PIR June 21st, and the May 3rd training start date for 233/234. That's why I am confused...LOL It is easy to confuse me sometimes.

Karen, I'll be sending good thoughts and prayers to get you through til he calls. i asked my son if they do things by alphabet & he said no, its usually by height. He was a little upset that he didn't get a chance to volunteer (?) for sentry duty & said now he'll probably have to do that duty PIR weekend. Other than that, he's just trying to get used to everything. Homesick is a normal part of this process I believe? Anyonr else's SR on Ship 14 Div 231?

Just got a call from my daughter! So good to hear her voice! She sounded great.

diannep  Thank you.  Knowing that this happens sometimes makes me feel a lot better.  There should be a training manual for Moms given out at DEP that tells you just how hard this process will be.  I knew it wouldn't be easy but I never imagined it would be this tough.  I will try to remember that NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS.  Thanks for your support!!!!!

Comment by diannep on May 5, 2013 at 10:41am

Yes, it is, Karen.  Some of them may have had "watch", some may have had appts at dental/medical or another adminstrative appt, and they sometimes just run out of time for all to call.  Try not to worry.  Remember....the Navy motto is:

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS

I know you want to hear your SR's voice, but if you don't hear from your SR in a while, just assume all is progressing as it should in bootcamp!  You will be notified if there is any change in training/PIR date.  Hoping that you get a call though soon!  Or a letter!  Or both!  :-)

Comment by Karen on May 5, 2013 at 9:07am

I am so happy for all of you that got calls yesterday but I cant help but be a little sad and worried as my SR did not call.  Is it common for some in a division to get calls and others not too?

Comment by diannep on May 5, 2013 at 8:09am

ellen:  Do we know that 235/236 are in this PIR group?  I guess we will know maybe tomorrow for sure.

Imomxfour:  That is wonderful that your sailor is coming home for Memorial Day!  Yep, on hold waiting for duty station can be quite frustrating for them.  My son was on hold for a month at his A School and he said they were going crazy.  Each had a "job" persay on the base to try and keep them busy, but all were anxious to get off base, get Leave, and get to their first duty station.

Hope you enjoy your visit with your sailor....of COURSE you will!  :-)

Good Morning All !
