For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Now, looks like some Late Lucy's arrived to fill this TG. :) hmmmmm, interesting. I bet the male recruits can blame it on the female recruits.

I am guessing that divisions 233/234 are probably not PUSH, but 235/236 are PUSH. Looking at a calendar 233/234 should have BS at the correct week (from the May 3rd date), 235/236 not so much, but you all will know in a couple of weeks. Ask your SR to let you know what day/week of training it is to figure it out. Don't worry though, if any are PUSH they will still get all their training in no problem.

My sons division and brother division were PUSH, it was 16 days from his arrival before they started training, they had to wait on 60 females (yes, 60) to arrive before they started training.

The only difference you will see is when others are talking about what their SRs are doing on what day, don't listen to them, yours probably won't be, and it will just confuse you...LOL

There will be lots of time before the cerimony to visit.

My daughter's recruiter sent me a screenshot of the computer info showing her to be in Ship 09 Div 235 with PIR on June 21st!!! She arrived at RTC the evening of the 29th and we thought PIR would be the 28th like some of you have been talking about. What a pleasant surprise!!! Our son was in a push division this past Dec/Jan, so were familiar with that. (Obviously I'll need to verify this info when we receive the form letter) hopefully it'll be this week - we're only 2 hours south of GL, so we get things pretty fast from up there. I'll keep ya'll posted in case it's different...

I still can't believe our daughter who originally wanted to be a cosmetologist in high school and loves hair & makeup & jewelry (haha) is in actually the Navy now, too!!! Wow!!!

Comment by diannep on May 4, 2013 at 8:57pm: Unfortunately, when we went several years ago, I didn't know about Southwest, so we flew another airlines from Miami. Sadly, my son was setback for a week, and I had to pay the $150/change fee for 2 tickets. Fortunately, the new fares were a little cheaper so it was like the fee was $89/per ticket. Milwaukee is 45 minutes from GL (straight interstate) and Midway is an hour or more. More traffic in Chicago. No traffic in Milwaukee!

As far as renting a car from the airports, or using SARGE's shuttle service, that is up to you. But it is usually cheaper to rent the car if possible. We rented a car but took the PIR shuttle. Then used the car afterwards to go places ours sailor wanted to go.
