Oh Motorwife - I'm glad your tummy is better! Last night my hubby asked me what was wrong, and I started to cry. I told him I was just worried about our boy! He laughed and said that he was the last one of the 3 away from home he would worry about. He would be more worried about the one in D.C. with the crime rate or the one who is a police officer and goes out every night with a gun on duty. He said at least our SR was being watched over VERY CLOSELY and we knew he would be safe! Kind of put things in perspective, but I STILL miss him and wonder how he is doing! :)
I got my fiance's form letter today! Ship 02, Div 932! PIR 6/22 =D
Also, I just sent out his 11th letter this morning. Hopefully I am not overwhelming or embarrassing him. I just don't want him to feel like I have 'better things to do' than write every day, even if it's about nothing at all!
I booked my flight with SW airlines as suggested because of the 2 free checked bags. I am nervous about flying anyways (my first time) so I would like to have it as simple as possible, if that exists! I'm waiting for the Tricare form and info to get my military ID. Not sure when that is.
Once we get the PIR form letter with their official address, does that mean they are officially able to receive and write mail? I read something before that they have to wait until someone is trained to start writing, but I have no idea when that is. Almost 2 weeks already...hope this gets better because I MISS HIM!!!!
I've just finished booking flight and hotel for graduation, and now I'm even MORE excited. I'm still eagerly awaiting a letter!
When my son went to BC last year (He PIR'd May last year), he did not get to make the "I'm Here" call from RTC. He did call from the airport and said it was his last call...but I still waited. :-(
Then he called THREE times the second week! The first made me nervous...by the third one I was a wreck! I kept trying to go into "no news is good news" mode!
Then of course...a couple of weeks laer when his division was getting calls home...I wanted one too! LOL
Glad your tummy is better Motorwife!
mumof4, I was soo happy that I got to talk to him. I kept asking him questions in between him asking me for information. Something that I do that usually irritates him, lol, but I think in this case he was actually happy to hear my millions of questions. Of course, after I hung up I thought of a million more to ask. I was happy to hear that he was fine and doing o.k. Just hard for him getting use to someone screaming at him (hey, that's my job). Besides his blisters and chapped underarms he sounded great! My tummy ache finally went away, the one that I've had for 2 weeks since he's been gone, yippy!
Motorwife - I think my heart would have been in my throat if I received a call this soon.....that's awesome that you got to talk to him, though! I imagine with the cold, damp weather they've been having that they have been wet and miserable! I talked to a Navy dad, and he told me they pump the water out of Lake Michigan to use in their drills, etc., and it is COLD! I know, even in the middle of summer, the Lake Michigan is cold - cannot imagine how cold it is now!
