N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found a group that SR's are graduating together so I can have someone who understands the emotions I'm going through! My husband is ship 14 Div 222! I got to talk to him for the 1st time yesterday for 45 minutes. He was so sad and down, kept telling me it sucks and he wants to leave because he misses us ( we have 2 toddlers at home) but I just kept giving him words of encouragement and I really hope my weekly packages of daily letters and pictures keep him strong.
Anyone else's sailors having emotions of not liking boot camp at the moment?!
I will pray for you all and your SR's!

Thanks for the info diannep! My SR said they would not get paid until the first.

DJswife:  Actually, I believe that the supply card is for a certain amount.  I have heard through posts on here that if they don't use it all by the time Bootcamp is over, they can't use it at A School so I would imagine that most use the rest of it after PIR if they need to.  This group has not gotten any pay yet, right?...it usually takes about 3 weeks after arrival to start the pay.   They deduct the costs of uniforms, supply card, etc from their first couple of pay deposits (direct deposited).

Marthajj:  The rule of thumb is not to send them anything they didn't request or you didn't tell ask them about.  The RDCs will question them:  What is this?  And you want your SR to know exactly what it is.  So I would write to your SR and ask if he/she would like for you to put a couple of moleskins in each letters in the future and wait for an answer to that.  Don't send the sock!  HA!  Your SR is wearing only Navy-issued clothing!  Ask about the phone cards too...your SR may have already bought one with lots of minutes, but if not, I know your SR would appreciate you mailing one.

Stamps are ok to send....they are light and thin and should not cause the letter to have to be opened in front of the RDCs.  But they can get stamps there too.

Got a call from my SR SHIP 14 DIV 221 so awesome to hear his voice!!!

Martha jj for usa. My SR purchased a phone card from the Nex store and asked me to send her stamps. She said that they have very little room for storing their personal items. From my understanding they are given some sort of debit card for the Nex store to purchase times which is taken out of their pay I believe for the amount that is used. She has bought items and no money has been taken out of her bank account. It may be helpful to wait and see what your SR asks you to send them. I hope this helps.

Got my call today from my SR.  So good to hear from him but he cried and I cried.  He is stressed and very tired.  He wished me a Happy Mother's Day.  Had to encourage him and tell him to stay strong.  I hope he makes it thru!!!
