Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Have you gotten any mail from your husband? Where is he going to A school?

Comment by Nicole on May 23, 2014 at 8:19pm

My husband is in 207. I'm not a mom, but if you want to chat feel free.

Anyone have a son in Ship14, Div 207? I would love to keep in touch with a mom in that division and ship for chatting about what lies ahead for our young men.

bangieb:  What a happy group to have at PIR!  So, are you flying or driving?  There is no problem making your hotel reservations now...no problem if you cancel/change, usually up until the day before or day of arrival (if you book directly with the hotel....not sure of the rules if you book through a travel discount sites).  Be sure to ask for the Navy Grad rate (Navy Lodge doesn't have one, but many of the others do...you will need to call the hotels directly to ask for this).  Here are the hotels recommended by others who preceded you:  Navy Lodge (close to base, good rates, book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself), Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....these last 4 are very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for the families (no sailors there....sorry).

If you need flights, you can go ahead and book but try and get on Southwest Airlines if that services your area....either into Milwaukee WI (45 min to GL) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).  There is no change fee if your SR is setback for any reason, and 2 bags check for free.  They run one-way specials too so see if you can combine those and get a better rate!

I totally agree with CatMom....beautifully said!  You will see the change in them probably around Hell Week (training week 4).  The build up process is in full gear then, and they only have 2 more weeks of training...then they are sailors!  PIR will be one of the best days of yours/their lives!

Good Morning All !

Psalm150,

The RDCs' task is to break down these individual young people to get them to think of something bigger than themselves.  They are in the Navy to serve our country, function as a team of brothers and sisters that work together, respect each other and their supervisor officers, and learn everything they can on how to operate a Navy base or Navy ship.  Midway, the RDCs will switch to building them up and encouraging them.  It's a process and every week,  500 - 1300 new Navy Sailors graduate at PIR!!

God led each of these SRs on this path and it is my prayer that each one will finish Navy strong~~  :)

I just received my letter from my SR. He was so happy to hear my voice! He said the only thing that bothers him is that they are not treated like human beings. He is pushing through and paying attention to detail and learning from his mistakes!
