Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I hope Eric is cleared soon to go on with his program. My Eric (an EM rank) liked your son. Tell yours that he hasn't missed much. EM classes are to begin with briefing this week.

Hi all!!   I didn't realize that I didn't have to leave this group after PIR.  LOL  Thank you for all your comments about Eric.  He's still in THU at least until he sees the Dr. on the 18th of July.  He calls every day, so that is a bonus for me.  : )  He's working different jobs, recently just driving people around.  He's feeling so much better physically, so hopefully he will get to move onto A school soon.  I'm learning so many new things about the navy from him, it has helped us both.  He's learned to relax now and actually get more sleep. LOL  We are looking at this as just a bump in the road and soon he will be off on his journey again.  I will make sure to keep you all posted.  Thanks again.

Eric's Mom- I am so sorry about your son not moving off to A school yet.Has to be very frustrating for you both. Prayers for him to get well. Hope to see you in the "A School" group.
Best wishes

I'm leaving this group also, The PIR ceremony was beautiful, but the PIR experience for me wasn't.  My son learned after PIR that he wasn't moving on to "A" school due to medical issues.  He was heartbroken and as "Mom" I felt helpless to do anything except comfort him.  He was beside himself about the whole situation.

He is still in Great Lakes on the BC side of the base under the medical division.  Hopefully soon they will do something to help him get well and get him off to "A" school.
