~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning!
"I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for You alone, O Lord,
make me dwell in safety."
Psalm 4:8
ellen, Enjoy your time with your boy
Good Morning all!
Good morning ladies!! less than 8 days.... Praying that all the SRs are successful with their final tests, PFA, and BattleStations!
Good Morning!
Tysmom: I feel sure you can be dropped off at the main gate. The gate pass would be for those planning to drive onto the base. You may want to call the Public Affairs Office 847 688 2405 and ask this question though.
Enjoy, ellen!
Shan: Is your sailor flying out for A School or moving over to GL A School base? If the former, then they are usually able to leave RTC by about 11:30, maybe a few minutes before. Depends on how long it takes them to check back into their ships after PIR. I would think maybe 1:30 or 2 for reservations, just to be sure, but not sure how far Navy Pier is from RTC.
If your sailor will be moving over to A School base right after PIR (that is when they do it), it will take several hours so not sure Navy Pier would be a good choice for PIR Day. You could do it one of the other days though. Since PIR for this group is on a Wed, those staying in GL for A School will have LOTS of Liberty with their new sailors...like 5 days worth, including PIR DAY!
Ellen - I hope you have a good visit with your son and he spends some time with you. When my son is home, most of his time is spent with his friends. It was still nice having him home and I was good this time and did not cry until after he had boarded the plane.
Hi all, quick question for the mods - what time can we reasonably expect to arrive at Navy Pier on graduation day if we were going to be making reservations?
Hi!
"But I trust in Your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
for He has been good to me."
Psalm 13:5-6
