~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep - thank you for your concern!  I hope I can go too - she is being really stubborn about this for some reason and I don't understand why.  Maybe I just need to back off and let her have her way - cause I for sure can't make her change her mind.  I can't get in unless she okay's it.

sethsmom,

When my Sailor daughter got her wisdom teeth out she was glad because they were already bothering her.  Also, she didn't have any extra pain or complications so was able to eat when the other SRs couldn't.  The biggest bonus was she got 2 days rest in her rack (bed) SIQ, which was like a mini-vaca for her to sleep!!

Sigh, eileen.  So glad she wasn't hurt worst....sad that she still doesn't' want you to come to PIR.  Hoping that changes!

We got letters today. So excited to hear even more detail from our son.  He is really glad that they are moving forward now.  He says that they have all been passing around colds they brought from their various home states but that everyone's health seems to be improving now.  We are praying for all of them to stay strong and make it through.

I heard from my girl yesterday!  She had a free moment to call home and she called!!  It was nice to hear her voice.  She tells me they are only in week 2, just about to enter week 3.  I guess their first week didn't count for much as they were moving divisions and getting all their stuff in order and what not.  She still sounds very upbeat.  Hit her head pretty hard in her bunk on Monday, hard enough that she got sent to ER on tuesday, but is feeling much better now.  She still is convinced she doesn't want me to come to PIR tho.

Good morning ladies!  Hope everyone has a beautiful day filled with SR letters and maybe a call this weekend!

Sethsmom,

I can relate to how you are feeling as my other son graduated from high school last Friday as well. So many chapters closing and opening at once is tough! We will survive though and look back at all the wonderful things our children have accomplished! :)

Have a great weekend and I hope we get a letter!!

sethsmom:  They give them pain meds and some SIQ time so they are ok!  This is such a common procedure at bootcamp so your SR will have lots of company!

Congrats to your youngest on graduation today!
