~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I read somewhere about sending a small card to the SR to have them put their flight to A school school info on it. But I can't find that post now. Did anyone else see it?

I got a call today too. She sounded great, much better than last week. Definitely needed and loved talking to her. Other than a hospital visit for an injury, she is healing and said she will work through it.

Just got a surprise phone call today.  He was in good spirits and said it was getting a little easier.  He thought I should get a letter from him today or tomorrow.  Just thought I'd share.

If they feel that there is any possibility that the wisdom teeth could cause an issue when deployed, they will pull them during training/school.  Some may be "watched" into A School and could have it done then.  The lucky ones are the ones where they are perfectly in and don't seem to pose a problem.

Good Morning All !

Feeling very thankful my SR had her wisdom teeth removed a few years ago. Quick recovery to all SRs getting theirs removed.

eileencham,

Also, the Navy dentist does a consultation to see if there is a need to pull the wisdom teeth, then they are scheduled for the procedure.  If there is no need, then it won't be done.  In my eyes, I'd rather have that dental work done on the Navy's dime, rather than my own dimes, nickels, quarters, and dollars!!  Years ago, I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled and the anesthesia was $280 and not cover by my dental insurance!  Yikes!!

Comment by eileencham on May 30, 2013 at 1:38am

Why are all these kids getting their wisdom teeth pulled?  OUCH.  Do they get pulled whether they need it or not?  My daughter didn't have hers pulled at home cause she didn't need them done...SO hoping she doesn't need them done at camp.

So surprised to get a phone call. It's only been two weeks. Looking forward to seeing my sailor at graduation. Ship 9 TexasMom
