~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Craig, I'm a little confused about my SR's rating. How do I find that? He is going to be an information technician on a sub. Thanks!

eileen:  Sigh....yes, you are correct.  If you are not on her list, you can't get in.  She has a chance to update her list shortly before PIR (a week or so before) so hoping that she changes her mind and wants you there.  It is such a wonderful ceremony....I would hate for her to deny you that, but of course, it is her decision.  Prayers that she starts to realize how much this means to you as her mom and wants you there!

Eileenc Im A Wife And I Understand Where Your Coming From After All Your The Parent .. Im Guessing What Im Doing Is Going Sitting By Myself And Web They Say Liberty Calls. His Parents An My Mom WiLL Go Down Say TherE Hellos And Leave I Understand Why The Parents Want To Go But I Also Want My Time With My Husband And When Hold Him I Don't Want To Share. So Maybe Explain You Just Want To See Her. Sometimes Young People Want To Gain Independence And Think Blocking Parents Out Is How It' Done

I would so love to plan on going to her PIR but if I am not on the official "invite" list then I can't go, can I?  I've even got some $$ set aside to buy the plane ticket as soon as I know I can go.  I even told her that!  I think it is the guy-thing - I will just be in the way and she doesn't want me to interfere with her plans to spend time with this guy whom I've never even met...  Still makes me sad tho, that she would deny me the opportunity to share in something so big for her.

Lets hope we get a letter today!

Comment by diannep on May 23, 2013 at 8:47am

YAH, Lala!  We worried about you since we didn't hear from you yesterday.  So glad he will be ok!

eileen:   Hugs to you!  I hope that you get another call from her soon and a letter(s) as well.  I hope you DO plan to go to her PIR.  Have you told her that you were making plans to come and see what she says?  She is probably thinking about time with her "guy friend" but there is room for both of you for PIR weekend.  Hope it works out.

Good Morning!

Good morning everyone, I hope today is a great letter day for everyone. Remember Monday is a holiday so any letters next week may be delayed a day in arrival. This is the time of year that my daughter went to boot camp. She actually left on May 25th 2010 and I was lucky enough to get a real letter before the form letter arrived because of Memorial Day. I hope you all get nice letters as well :)

PS, Poochie is doing much better and we are sure he will make a full recovery :) Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers. You guys are awesome!!!
