N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

So sorry MilitaryMom014.  My son is in your son's group and he was so upset because I didn't answer the first two phone calls.  When he called the third time, he was already almost in tears because he was afraid he wasn't going to get to talk, but hopefully they will let your son try again today.  I will keep him in my prayers also as I sympathize greatly for you and would also be so upset if I were in your shoes.

I was so thankful to hear from my SR this morning!  I was so worried he would be tired & homesick.  He either hid it extremely well, or he is doing great! I have been having a really hard time since he left. My daughter graduated from High School last night so, having both my children going through life changing events within 2 weeks has been difficult.  My SR made my day!

Yep, this early time is the hardest--you may cry at the drop of a hat--but trust me, it will get better!!   Your sons and daughters are pursuing their future here and the Navy is helping them with separating and maturing into incredibly fine young men and ladies!!  God is in controll~~

Hello ladies, i've been following navymoms. for over a year, learning as much as I can as rtc processed into navy. Just received first phone call and I'm more appreciative than ever for our fine young men and women. Thank you moms for all of your support. Can't wait to see them march in on July 3rd!

Lisamark:  I agree with the ladies on here.  They are all pretty shell-shocked when they first start bootcamp.  Keep encouraging, you are your SR's cheering team during this...they all need to know that they can and will do this.  It does get better for them as they go through bootcamp.
