Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome to the new ladies here!

MilitaryMom:  I'm thinking you might be a great resource for all of us on here, with your Navy background and a hubby active duty Chief.  So....get ready....we may be bombarding your with questions!  :-)  Thank you and your hubby for your service to our country!  :-)  I am one of the N4Moms veterans who has been helping on here for over 3 yrs now.... if you see any info that any of us N4Moms veterans are posting that is incorrect, please correct us!

Tammy:  Thanks for posting that.  Let's hope that they can't get flights on the 4th and they have to fly out the next day or later!   Since no flights are booked yet, we can only hope!

marblette:  The Division number is the most important one so no worries, like he said.  He'll get the mail!

Yay I got a surprise call yesterday from my SR and know that he is ok and doing well just stays hungry.  He only got to call cause he needed some info from me but no matter the reason it was great to hear from him!!   I am one happy mom!! Hopefully all will get that call too!! I did find out they had given him the wrong ship number and I had to change that.  He says he will still get the mail just take longer but now I know the right one this will be better.

BTW, I emailed the RTC Public Affairs Office to inquire as to whether my SR would fly out on July 4th and this is the response I received:

"Unfortunately, we will start flying recruits out on July 4. The day each recruit flies out depends on ticket availability. We book flights during the last week of boot camp once we know they are graduating and they will know their flight plan a couple of days prior to their graduation."

Okay, I took the quiz and obviously need to do more studying! It was fun though and I learned a lot. I think my SR will be very proud of me when tell him how Navy smart I've become!

Time to take your 1st Navy Test....

Let's see how well you are learning the Navy...

Remember, it doesn't matter how many questions you missed as long as you learned something....
