Navy Lodge is about a mile or so from the base.  Not walkable to RTC though....sidewalks are not available.

Book in your SR's name if you don't have military ID.

Also, here are other hotels only 4-5 miles from RTC that are recommended by others on this site:

Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount---not the hotel general number, the the actual hotel number.  You can take a shuttle to/from PIR (Sarge's or book at your hotel front desk with the local taxi service)...I believe it is $3/pp each way.

Springhill Suites (closest to Sarges MeetandGreet held for you the night before PIR), Courtyard (both of these are next to the Walmart shopping center that has restaurants, etc in it)....Residence Inn and Holiday Inn Express, located very nearby.  Someone else just stayed at Candlewood Suites which is next to Residence....said it was good also.

To see reviews on the hotel you want, check it out on:

Shannon:  They fly out of both OHare and Midway.  They won't know which one until right before PIR.  The airports are about 30 min apart.  It is best to book your own return flights later on Sat. or even on Sunday if you can to allow for maximum time with your new sailor.  They won't have flight info until right before PIR.  Sometimes they don't fly out until Sunday, but most do on Saturdays.

Good Morning!

Thank you diannep for the information! And do they fly out of O'Hare? We will try to plan our flights so we can be with him some more.

I'm anxiously awaiting his letters. He said he's written us a lot which really surprised us. We didn't figure he would write very much. Lol! He's never been much on writing.

I've been stalking the RTC Facebook page hoping for more pictures! I would love to see him. I'm so thankful for this website!
