For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Wendy, I went to the Dollar Store and found several cards. Some were 2 for $1.

I was fortunate to have a few friends who's sons have gone to the navy, so they are the ones who told me about this site. However, I am also a researcher, so I would scour the internet for any and all information that I can find. This site comes right up if you google info about Navy boot camp.
I guess I am just one of those moms who wants to know what is going on everyday.
No letter today :(, it's a bummer living on the west coast.
If any of you have the 99Cent store or the dollar tree, they have lots of great cards to send the kids. I have been sending a card a day, so it can add up if you are paying $3-$4 a card.

(SHIP 11 DIV 224 ) I sent 2 letters so far to my son, haven't heard anything back yet.. Does anyone know if they can call home and if so what days can they do so?

Peter's Mom, I got the first letter from him today and so did a couple other of our family members. They are dated this past Sunday. I hope you hear soon, hang in there!

Yes it really is a relief, I feel much better after hearing from him and him telling me that he's OK. He actually said he is enjoying it...for the most part. He told me all about how they work 16 hours a day doing PT, marching, studying. And he said he didn't realize until he got there how much he would be looking forward to seeing us at graduation. That was nice!
