For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Okay, I have no experience with the shulttles. Everyone who has has liked them though.

I rented a car because I wanted the freedom of being able to go where I wanted too, when I wanted too. I booked through until Sunday even though my Sailor was supposed to fly out Friday morn (that all changed-read in the Friday Saturday Departure discussion) so that way I could do something with my other boys too. Also, the drive to the Meet and Greet and the Airport to see my son off. Taxi's cost...but then so does a rental car and PARKING!

It just depends on your preferance. I ended up driving A LOT...and loved it (see my blog!) I dreaded it too and God blessed me abundantly with it!

You've got a small TG so getting into PIR should not be a problem at all. We had seven DIV and I got in, parked and got seats on the lower bleachers...on the aisle too!

Comment by Elizabeth on June 25, 2011 at 11:02pm: yeah i cant wait to be married to him :) thats really cool thanks for sharing, the problem is finding when lol, PIR, during school, or when they get leave for christmas. he just has to get a chit or if he wants to get married on PIR he has to talk to his chain of command. his job is AECF in Great lakes for 6 months to a year the other job he wants is nuke and tht is in SC for 2 years. so its between tht.

I just posted in your Discussion Forum about Friday and Saturday Departures. dianne explained it perfectly already...I just thought I would leave it up there for anyone else new that might come in. It also has what I experienced with it as I had a bit different PIR weekend (Memeorial Day-PIR'd on Thrusday NOT Friday). There were several changes in dates and times along the way!

I will also spend some time posting a whole bunch of other info that I have gathered either on my own or from JessicaBSailor - who has been such an asset for this site. She is temporarily on hold for awhile, from what I understand.
