So I have been looking and I think we got really lucky with our graduation weekend. We have only 5 divisions while the recent one has 11. Maybe that means everyone who has more than 4 people will be able to get them into the ceremony.

I light two everynight see listed under events to the right of this screen.  I just found it comforting to say a prayer as I light it for the end of their day (as I am in Calif. and it isn't dark until after 8 but their lights out is at 10 so I'm lighting about that time).  And then I say a prayer for a good day ahead as I blow it out at about 1 or 2am when I am usually going to bed.  I am not extremely religious but find this routine comforting for me.  I light a second candle for our deployed military, veterans and families of those lost in all wars.  I will do this for my SR anytime he is not at home and continue with the other one for ever I think.  Make of it what you like....but the candle is just a way of remembering our men and women who are serving our country!

When do we need to do the candles? I have a blue navy night light that we gave to Kalli? Same effect?
Comment by Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936) on June 22, 2011 at 11:32pm

I was doing my nightly letter to my SR when I heard a weird sound and it was the candle it had burned all the way to the bottom and the holder was crackling from the heat.  I hope I'll like the new battery operated one.  It is easier to move around than the electric ones...we'll see..

Anyone know anything about TRIVIA TUESDAY'S on the RTC site on Facebook?

I just got a facebook account today and I'm trying to learn to navigate it.  I read that if the loved ones of the SR's are the quickest to answer the question correctly they will take a picture of the whole division.  It is posted at 10am and I figure that is GL time, but I don't know exactly were it is posted.  Anyone know?  I want that prize next Tuesday!!!  Come on div 936 loved ones lets figure it out and try to win it!

Better to be safe Terry, I remember reading that some moms were leaving their candles burning all night. It is so NOT safe to do that. And you SR's would not want you to do that nor would they want anything to happen. Lots of moms used the electric ones and I am sure they are just as effective :-)

HEY ALL:  almost had a mishap with my blue candle last night.  Went to JO-Ann's today and found some battery operated candles.  They are white but i bought some navy blue paint and will paint them during the next couple days.  Safer but maybe not the same effect.  BUT...I think my SR would rather have a home to come back to!

Awww, Lizzy, I just did read them....seems one of the ladies knew the flag was for an earlier PIR division.  Heartbreaking....I wanted it to be them....was ready to get the magnify glass out.
