Is Sliding Rock anywhere near Ashville?  I think I have seen it.  My cousin lives there, and I remember her mentioning it on a hike we took.

ilmstravis- That is so cool that you were at Sliding Rock. I live near-by. In fact my wedding will be in the Pisgah National Forest only a few miles from Sliding Rock this coming Saturday. If you ever come to the Brevard area again let me know. Maybe we can meet for lunch or something :-) Did you down the rock? It is way to cold for me lol.

My SR told me that this is week 3.  I thought it was four too.  They don't count that first week and a half.  It is called P week (Processing week).  So although they've been gone almost a month.  It is week 3 of training.

lizzy:  Starting about week 4.  That seems to be the turnaround week.  It is a very busy week for them ("hell" week) but they get alot accomplished.

Lala:  Not sure I would go down it now at my "advanced" age!  That cold water just may "kick up" my arthritis!  :-)

Caitlyn:  Sounds like you are doing everything right...so pray hard for him!  He isn't alone in his feelings....when my son was there, he even said there was a "line" of SRs waiting to talk to the Chief to see if they could GET OUT!  It is not supposed to be a fun experience for them...especially in the beginning....so hang in there!  You will be so proud and there will be smiles galore when you see him at PIR in his uniform!  HOOYAH!

Diannep, it is open for a visit and that water is just how you remember it. I bet it would be quite refreshing coming from FL lol. So time to make another NC trip :-)
