OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Denise(a Seabee Mom):  Thanks to you also for answers.  My SR is going to be a Seabee too, if he can make it through BC

Diannep: Thank you for explaining all the running/PIR stuff.  I hope none of us has to go to the last minute to pass.  I had been reading about people getting their "I'm a Sailor" call the Wed before PIR.  We'll be in bad shape if that happens since our plane reservations are for Wednesday....we'd be in the air and not be able to no if we were going to PIR or not.

LALA:  I just got home from a combo birthday/Father's day party and came on to check the N4M's chatter to see if anyone got Father's day calls...I can't tell you how happy it made me to see our ribbon.  It is beautiful....going to call my Daddy now and let him know how he was also honored also!!!  So special...we are going to be proud to wear them!  Thanks for doing this for our family!

yeah his first PFA he did good on everything but his running. thats good they get them to pass it though
Comment by diannep on June 19, 2011 at 9:09pm

No matter what they do in the earlier PFA, they have to pass the final PFA in order to do BattleStations and become sailors.  So keep encouraging!

First flag can be earned in the 3rd week, and more after that. A division gets flags for many different things including inspections, academic success, physical fitness, etc.  The flag they most strive to get is the Hall of Fame flag. All-around excellence.  By the way, you can "spot" the new divisions at bc by their bald heads and their marching with no flags yet!

My son said that the first fitness test he was over time on the run, sit-ups and push-up by a few. But he passed the swimming. From what I understand they get to take again, this was just to see where they are at.
