Yep, ladies....Kathleen is so right.  The first few weeks of bootcamp are very hard for them...physically and emotionally.  It is like a rollercoaster ride...they are "up", they are "down", etc.  So lots and lots of letters.  I also suggest to the N4M ladies to ask those important in their SRs' lives in the past to write....maybe a fav teacher, coach, neighbor, church friend...anyone who played a part in your SR's life. You can even give them addressed stamped envelopes.  I did this for my son and he so appreciated it---loved hearing from some fav teachers and special friends.  Just remind these people to say nothing but encouraging things to them....that is what they need to hear.  That they can do it!

By week #4 of training, although that is "hell" week, they start realizing that they can do this and see that in just 2 more weeks, they will become sailors.  So it does get better for them!

It was In commemoration of Naval Station Great Lakes' 100th anniversary, students, staff, and veterans participated in a "Living 100" on 14 June 2011. This event took place on Ross Field, in front of historic Bldg. 1.

What was it

Yeah it is really from today. I don't think any recruits got to participate. If you go to the facebook page you can see the pic in "bigger" form and you can see that it is sailors in dress whites. It is very cool :-)

Kathleen:  On the 7/1 group, Angie (works at GL base) said that it involved the students and staff of Great Lakes A School base.

LALA:  Was that picture really from today?  I am wondering if our SR's got to see it and/or were involved.  That would be awesome.
