I thought you all would want to see this pic posted on facebook an hour ago. In commemoration of Naval Station Great Lakes' 100th anniversary, students, staff, and veterans participated in a "Living 100" on 14 June 2011. This event took place on Ross Field, in front of historic Bldg. 1.

Lala:  VERY good idea on programming the telemarketer's number into your phone as a DO NOT ANSWER.  Wow....never thought about that.  Good idea!  Unless they get sneaky and call from another number....but glad she is leaving you alone!

How are you feeling?

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on June 14, 2011 at 8:19am
lol, I answered every call that came to my cell when my daughter was there. I was afraid not to. There was one telemarketer who called at least 3 times a week. I finally told her I was not interested, was never going to be interested and would she please take me off the call list because I was expecting a very important call from a Sailor and would be happy if I missed it because of a sales pitch. She never called again lol. I even programed the number into my phone and for the name I put  "Do Not Answer" lol Just remember if someone like that calls it is better to answer and hang up very quick so you don't miss a call trying to come in while your phone rings and rings.

AMEN, fireteamleaderwife, to your post about "getting er done" at bootcamp!  My feelings exactly...

Occasionally, a call will be received from an SR with a different area code than 847.  847 is the normal code, but ladies have posted that "info" calls sometimes have come in from different Chicago area codes.  My advice to all of you is to answer ALL calls while your SR is in bootcamp just in case....even the "junk" calls...because you never know!

Hello.

My name is Kathleen, my sons PIR is July 22, he is on Ship 11 Div 234. We live in Normal, Illinois and we will be arriving in Great Lakes on the 21st of July. I would love to talk to other Mom's that are anxiously waiting like myself.

Glad you are all geting calls!

Yay-terry'saproudmom

REMEMBER for anyone recently joining;

Great Lakes area code is 847.

Also look for US GOVERNMENT for those that will be getting the security clearance call. This WILL be from your SR needing two more names for their backround checks.

You know...that's very true dianne. While some were down he did always say he was "going to do this" and you are right I DID feel guilty for even thinking for a moment that he wouldn't. I always told him that he would and he could get through it. Reassuring him etc. God is good in giving me His strength to say the right things. Of course AFTER when you let the mind wander...sigh. Work in progress!

My deep down self KNEW that he had it in him...like we say WE do a lot of growing ourselves when our SR go off to Boot Camp!
