dianne- It seemed like EVERY other call was a bad one. Up, down...up, down. FInished on an UP though with the "I'm a Sailor" call after Battlestations!

PLUS I had gotten THREE phone calls within the first week. One from the airport NOT RTC, so he called again on Sunday...and I missed it. Then again on Tuesday and I got that one. He was so emotional each time that I was a wreck. Especially after reading that "no news is good news." I would just start to settle and "847" would pop up! I am guessing they just let him call as he had not "actually" gotten a hold of me. I still don't know and will jhave to ask! LOL

OH, and THEN I got the call on Thursday from him for the other two security refernces. I WAS NOT expecting it that soon and had nothing ready. I knew it was a "short" call (I could here what I assume was thr RDC in the backround). It didn't help that HE was not expecting it so soon and did not have two ready. He gave me two but I had lost my magic hat that day to just pull out the addresses and numbers. In this day and age "snail mail" ID isn't common!

So it was really FOUR calls in one week. I emember saying, "Please God, I would like some "no news..." for awhile.

Then when everyone started getting calls...I wanted one!

VERY glad you are getting calls!

Thank You for sharing too. Some don't get as long, as many details or nothing at all...it's kind of like a puzzle and putting all the pieces together to get the picture.

Ditto dianne on the Main Group and Divisional Discussions.

They were different for me. I went to my DD to "connect" with my DIV, but I posted all my questions on the Main Group. I knew that that's where the veterns would be.

I DID post all GREAT news on both areas!

So stay on your Main!

It's kind of like our SR's. They have a DIV and then squads within them. We have a Main PIR group and Divisional discussions. How about MG and DD. Or DIVDIS? LOL

I did not get a phone call today but I just want to thank everyone for taking the time to share their calls with us. It helps knowing that our kids are doing ok. Now lets all hope they do well on Tue so more families can get that phone call.

It seems that when they  are allowed to call and write really depends on ship and div.  So if your SR is on a different ship & div. they may not have gotten to call.  Hang in. Keep writing to them!  Today was the first day our SR was given letter writing and phone call priviledges, but he said they now get mail daily.  Phone calls home are used as rewards for them....and even then they will be few.  Lets keep helping each other get through this....it is only the start of week three and I know I would have not made it without all of you helping me through this!  Love to you all!

it is so good to hear phone calls are coming in. I am so sorry I have been away from the computer most of the weekend. I have not felt well so I didn't get on here very much. I did manage to clean an estate (glad that is over) and get all my laundry done. I even got another PIR groups ribbons finished. Not bad considering ;-) Definitely going to the doc tomorrow. So I am sure I will be feeling much better in a day or two.

What time did ya'll get these calls -- any calls going out from Ship12 Div231?
Comment by diannep on June 12, 2011 at 7:52pm

Terrysproudmom/sharon:  Awwwww....that first phone call really makes a difference, doesn't it?  Letters too.  So glad you got the calls!

Ladies, if you should hear from your SR and he/she is down or discouraged, please try not to worry.  Keep encouraging...they go through emotional highs and lows there....they may write when a bit down and by the time you receive that letter, all has changed and is much better.  So just remember....YOUR job is to constantly encourage them, no negative news, only positive fun uplifting news so they can keep their "Navy" focus.

HOOYAH!

zacsmom:  Thank you for adding the MeetNGreet info!  And glad that he is doing so well!  Hope YOU get the next call :-)  !

DukesMom:  PIR dress is usually "nice casual"....but you will see everything there.  Remember, the seating is in bleachers.  Some really dress up, most dress nice casual, and some must of have gotten dressed in the dark and didn't see what they put on (or forgot to!)!  We saw everything when there.  I wore a nice pair of black jeans, nice shirt and sweater with coat (winter time!).  There really is no "dress code" persay, but remember that your sailors will be in their finest!
