For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Just a reminder that they have to "phase up" in A School before they can wear civilian clothes, so best just to bring a few things.

MissingMyKing: It is best to write and ask your SR/sailor what he/she would want you to bring. Or bring lots of stuff and let your sailor pick what he/she wants, and return home with the extras. They have very limited space to carry things (those flying out). There shouldn't be a problem with those staying in GL for A School returning to that base with personal items.

Anything you want to give your Sailors cannot be given to them at the RTC right after PIR.
For those leaving GL for A School you can give them cell phones, etc. at the airport, not before. For those staying in GL for school, they can take their things back to base with them Friday night after liberty.

Thank Jaysmom, but my son is staying in GL, so not sure how that works? Don't know if I can give it to him when he is checking into the school.

I have read that you can bring their laptop and phone and give it to them at the airport when the fly out to A school, but the can not have it on base after PIR in Great Lakes. So just have to wait and give it to them at the airport.

Ellen0502 when we go to the graduation are we allowed to bring things at that time for our son to keep at A school, i.e. phone, clothes, laptop? Or do we send it at a later date? Thanks for your help.

Just looking over my post about E-1 through E-4 and stripes on their uniform at PIR. It should read no stripes E-1, ONE strip E-2, Two stripes E-3. Sorry I mistyped.
