I am wondering because the computer he has right now is a desktop and I was wondering if a laptop would be good for him until he gets settled and can pick up stuff.  I have read that they can't wear civilian clothes for quite a while after they enter A School and they can't drive either until they earn that privilege and take the necessary driving course.

My son asked me to bring him clothes also, especially boxers, and his computer and cell phone. He said he was not allowed to bring it back on the base with him that I could give it to him at the airport. I told him I would take pictures of his clothes and send it in my next letter so he can pick out what he wants.

I have a question, when we go to PIR weekend, what are the clothing items that we can bring with us for him? I have heard underwear, are there any other clothing articles that he can wear if we bring them? He always liked wearing those white undershirts (as shirts)? Also is a laptop a good idea for a graduation gift? Will they need one in A School?

Bree's Mom- My daughter is Div 248. We got a call last night. I hope you hear something. So great to hear from her and that she is glad about her decision to join.

My son said he received one letter already last weekend it was from my ex , his father.  (He said he was so disappointed to get that letter lol).  I don't know where he mailed it to but it got to my son before I even got the form letter.  My son said they were going to be getting mail last night at 9:00 pm. I hope some of my letters made it to him I mailed a whole bunch on Wednesday. I actually almost told him to text me if he gets them.

wheilhnpluto:  If they haven't been able to write to you yet, then they haven't been given the "held" mail yet.  Sounds like tomorrow will be the day to receive that mail and write their first letters.  After that, they will receive mail M-F but will only be able to write on Sundays (mailed on Mondays).

Jackrusellmom I got my call too! My son sounds happy and excited! He misses us but he is happy to be there. He told me he's one of the flag guys! And he already got promoted!! I'm a proud mama! :)

I finally got a call from my boyfriend three hours ago who's in Div 250! Of course, I cried like a baby... because they didn't cut our call to less than two minutes this time. He stayed on the phone for about 15 minutes (maybe 20 because we spent so much time refusing to hang up until the next person). He said that they weren't allowed to write letters for the past two Sundays but that he'd be able to write tomorrow! He sounded tired and sick, but he's staying strong. It just made my whole day because I'd felt so disconnected from him. He says he hasn't received my letters yet (although I sent them out about five days ago) but he was so happy to know I was writing because he was super jealous of the people who had gotten mail. Overall, I'm so relieved to finally hear from him after such a long period of silence! Can't wait for PIR!

I got a call too! It was so good to hear his voice! He didn't say if he got our letters yet or not. But most important to me, he sounded good!
