Jaysmom - of course! Am I allowed to post the number on here? lol. I dont want to get in trouble. Or you could private message me and I could give you the number. We are also driving to PIR, but I don't want to deal with parking.
Yes that's what I was planning on doing. Renting a car but using the shuttle for PIR. Thanks, diannep
Alex's_mom- So glad you got a letter today. I'm also stalking the mailman Rosemarie and my husband is a mailman. lol
Anyone in division 250 get any letters yet?? I find it so weird why some of us get phone calls and letters and some of us don't. Why is this?
We are staying at the Navy Lodge and when I made our reservation, the person I spoke with gave me the phone number of the company who runs the shuttle to/from the Navy Lodge, so if anyone needs it, I can give it to you. I think he said it's $3/pp. I forget the name of the company, but it wasn't Sarge's shuttle. They said I should call and reserve our spaces on the shuttle. So I called and made our reservation on the shuttle and the gentleman I spoke with said to call him on the Thursday prior to PIR to confirm it.
Yes, I am going to PIR. I think I will give him a Visa gift card to use in MS for whatever he needs, but I was also trying to think of more of a sentimental Navy type gift.
JackRussellMom: Yes, Sarge orders food from the restaurants for your dinner at the MeetandGreet and his wife bakes the desserts, etc, from what i understand. Although he accepts any donation anyone feels led to give when there, please know that it is not required! He does enjoy doing this. Yes, he has a cab service that operates as a shuttle from/to airports and to/from PIR during that weekend....it can be a little costly from the airports, more economical to rent a car for most, but for those not renting a car, it is a good idea to use Sarge's service.
I believe his rate to PIR is $3/pp each way---there is also an in-town taxi service operating a shuttles that morning too and they should be the same price....you book that one at the front desk of your hotel when you check in....for those wanting Sarge, call him or text him or email him....We rented a car when we were there, but did use the shuttle to PIR. That was easy...bypassed the car line...no problem picking it up after PIR either.
RoseMarie: Are you going to PIR? If so, you could shop with him after that and see what he needs. If he is returning to RTC, he can't take anything back to base with him, but you can meet him at the airport and give him personal items. Just remember to read ellen's post below about how little room they have in their luggage---so keep that in mind when shopping. You could also give him a gift card (maybe even a NEX card to use at the NEX on base in MS)....or just cash to buy what he needs when he gets there? Some give a challenge coin (in their ship's name at Bootcamp) as part of their grad gift.
I got a letter from Alex today. Said he is doing good and he likes it there. He has to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled either this last week or next week. He said that the division he is in (246), that about 40% of the group acts up and gets the entire group in trouble and he wishes that they would just cooperate. He said that they already had to do Intensive Training and that the Senior Chief said that it's sad that they already had to do this since her past group didn't have to do it until the 4th or 5th week.
Does anyone have any boot camp graduation gift ideas?? I have no clue what to get my son and don't know what he will need at A School in MS.
