amilynne:  I agree with CatMom about mailing the contacts to your SR.

scubagirl:  After PIR, he will have Liberty with you until about 8 or 9 pm.  He must return to RTC then....a few hours later, he will be bussed to the airport.  You can meet him there...give him personal items he asked for to put in his backpack...right after PIR, he may have to return to his Ship to get photos, checkout, etc, but then he is free to go with you!  We took the shuttle when there and had no issues.  Just returned to the hotel, let our sailor relax and take a long by-himself shower (they all love this...showering in" short " timed showers with shipmates gets old!!!)....and then we headed out in our rental car.  It is up to you what you want to do.  Sarge's shuttle is $3/pp each way (I believe your sailor returns with you for free!) and you can sign up for this at his MeetandGreet....or.....text/call him   847 212 -0246 or email him:  johnspadaro@att.net

Tamara:  Hopefully someone will post some of Sarge's helpful info after the MeetandGreet.  One hint I know about:

If driving to PIR, stay to the left on Buckley (main road to RTC).  Car line to get onto RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC....turn around near the train station, which is right past RTC.  Head back to RTC from the opposite direction.  It is an easy left turn into RTC then....no waiting!  Be sure to have your gate pass in the car....you can download this on the RTC website 11 days before PIR.

Yes, if staying at Navy Lodge, you will need a shuttle (call Sarge).  You cannot walk from there....not walking-friendly route to RTC.  His fees are $3/pp each way to PIR.  If you use his airport service, he takes you to PIR for free.

I have so many questions and once I find out the answer to one I end up having a lot more:)  I am flying in on the 24th too late to go to Sarge's meet and greet.  I can't come any earlier due to a commitment here in Florida.  Is there any way to still get some of the information he gives out there?  Will anyone be willing to post important information on this page?  I can get it on my cell phone.  Another one of my questions is this.  If I'm staying in the Navy Lodge do I still need t cab or a ride to PIR? Just so you know every answer spurs more questions:)  Maybe by the time I get home from PIR, I'll be ok.

Hey scubagirl, I have heard that driving is a nightmare. It is 'suggested' to take the shuttle, as it will be faster. But of course it will be your chose.

My son well be flying out after PIR.  I know he can not have any personal items until we meet him at the airport, which is no problem(we are staying to Sunday).  After the PIR ceremony can he just leave with us or does he have to go check in somewhere?  I know if he is staying in GL he would have to move first.  Trying to decide if we want to get a shuttle ride to graduation or drive the rental car so we can leave for lunch and our visit since we may find out he leaves for airport early am Saturday.

Happy Friday everyone! I'm getting so excited as we get closer. Just learning about fun projects that are keeping me busy and passing the time. This weekend I'm going to start working on a banner for our door at the hotel. So excited!!

Thank you CatMom509, I did just that today on my lunch break.  I took a look at the letter writing page and saw that I should write "Contacts for PIR" on the envelope since it was a padded envelope not your standard white ;)

Wishing all a great weekend
