Just putting this idea out there for your group.  It is totally voluntary.  Some of our past PIR groups have gotten together and put together State themed gift baskets/boxes/bags or really, any great idea would work, to be raffled off at Sarge's Meet & Greet on the Thursday evening before PIR.  This is great fun and would help offset the costs of Sarge and his wife as they do these meet and greets every week to help our Navy families.  If someone would like to start a Basket Project for this group, please let Sarge know and start a discussion up in the Discussion Forum for the ladies here to pop into to express their interest~~  Thank you~

Lala,

Just a quick correction, it's PFA (Physical Fitness Assessment).  :)

Lynn-  I understand the not knowing is the worse part.  What my SR shared was that they had done their swim test, mile, and sit up test.  I think they were individual?  He commented that his division "was doing great" but did not get into details.  Hopefully this is a little reassuring.  I think this letter was written saturday or sunday.  His wife's letter had a little more details which I "made" her read to me minus all the mushy stuff I didn't need to know.  The one that I will share with all of you mom's that stuck out in my SR's letter was his need to receive the "frequent" letters and contact from home.  I have seen lot's from the veteran mom's which says to keep the encouragement and letters coming to the SR's and my SR confirmed that need.  Hopefully we will all get more info from our SR's soon :)

They take the PFT (Physical Fitness Test) 3 times. The first two are kind of like a practice and they need to improve their times to make sure they pass it on the last time. Once they pass the swim test they don't have to do it again. They have to be able to turn their clothes into a flotation device and tread water and float :) For most it isn't too hard but for some it is. It was hard for my daughter. She could not float at all when she left home but they helped her and she passed it :) Your recruits will get it too :)

It makes me feel a little bit better to know that I am not the only one. I thought I was probably the only one. I guess I will
Continue to wait patiently for a phone call or a letter. Thank you all. These past weeks have been very hard a lot of ups but a lot of downs as well

Good evening to all.  I am new and have to confess that I have quietly been eavesdropping on all of your posts for the last week while I processed what has been going on.  what I have learned is that I am not alone and thanks to you all I have someone to laugh and cry with and not drive my husband crazy in the process.  My son is on Ship 3 DIV 230 and I received his personnal letter last night.  He seemed really excited and stated that his division is doing great but still getting to know everyone.  He told me that my "frequent" letter writing reminds him why he is there, that he can do this, and sets his mind straight when things get tough.  Thanks to all of you over the last week, I have been able to get through my own struggles without him.

The letter I received seems to be written before the phone call I got on Saturday. Or maybe just most of the letter. My husband is in the same div. He said the same thing. They are a little all over the place.

will someone let me know how to view the Facebook postings.  If you need to send it in a private message feel free to do so.  Also anyone that got a letter from Ship 3 Div 230 today did your SR say how the unit was doing?  My son said they were not quite together when we talked to him on ?Saturday.

I got my first letter from my husband today. I'm crossing my fingers they are granted phone calls again soon. Heard from him last on Saturday. Baby and I can't wait to hear from our future sailor. Does anyone know if we are allowed to send pictures?

No, Lynn.  Your new sailor doesn't have to be going to A School there to stay at Gateway.

Did you check Navy Lodge, or is it booked?  You need to call them directly.  Their rates are $66-$71 or so.
