My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?
So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)
What a journey we are all on together!

still no letter :/ i wish it would hurry and come ! but like i said im on the western side of the us so im sure it will take a few days. and i wonder if they sent them out alphabetically ? i have been sending him lots of pictures, quotes, comics, news paper clippings ect. all that fun stuff to hopefully get a smile out of him. :) yes i put the pictures on computer paper just in case he has to toss them in the end. i've been looking online all day for flights and hotels. i can't believe how expensive it is to fly AHHH.
Lots of moms/wives/families etc hanging out in this group. Feel free to join us if you like :-) There are some from each of the PIR groups and we would love to have you join us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
I have made airline and hotel reservations!!!! I cannot wait to see my daughter!!!!
I have talked with Sarge~~he has other hotels that I didn't even know and that the travel agency didn't say a word about!!! He sounds awesome and so much info. I had already booked at the Ramada, and can't change it, but it's ok. The Meet and Greet is there I believe, well that's just one of the many I have read about on here. Sarge will get you to and from the airport, and to and from PIR!!! Sounds much better than fighting traffic. I have never done this either, so an experience we will have~~ a Great one!!!
what is "the meet and greet" ? how much does sarge cost do you know? i was going to take the meta train but if hes cheaper thats be awesome
Yea. Finally someone with a child in the same group as mine!! Very Comforting...Have felt like I was dying inside since my daughter left on May 29..The box came the next week, and she has included a letter that she had written on the plane. That was great, and of course, made me cry. But, I have cried every day. Never know when the tears will come or what will trigger it. They just come. My coworkers have gotten used to it. I work nights so while I was sleeping on Sunday, 6/10, I had a dream that I had gotten a text from my daughter that said "Have finally moved." The dream was so real that I could feel my phone in my hand. I immediately woke up, and of course, there was no text. Then I had the best day ever on Monday, 6/11. I received the form letter so I could finally mail all the letters that I had written since she left. Later that day, I got a phone call. IT WAS HER!!! She said I don't know how long I can talk; this is a business call, so get some paper and write down this information. She was in an interview regarding her security clearance and needed to give me an e-mail address so that I could send her brother's new address. (Her brother is in the process of moving.) She sounded so happy!! She loved being in the Navy..loved everything about it..she loved the clothes...said the food was really good...had just moved from processing to her new ship 2 days before...She also said that the group had already gotten IT twice..The only thing that she did not like was the toothbrush that she had and wanted me to send her a new one..What a comfort to hear her so happy. She said that she was so happy to be there and flet kie she has finnally found her way and place in life!! Not sure when I will hear from her again, but the sound and happiness in her voice was amazing. She said that she knows it will be hard but she feels like she has made the right decision and will be happy with her choice. We talked for about 15 minutes. Life for me is so much better now! I can smile and have stopped crying. I miss her terribly and can' wait until PIR! Good luck to every one and to all of your future SAILORS!! :)
that makes me so happy :) youre blessed to have received a phone call :) i still haven't heard from my husband and no formal letter yet either. i hope everything is okay there. if you talk to her again please let us know :) just hearing information about the group makes me happy :P
I am happy to have heard from my daughter, but it breaks my heart to hear that others have not. Will share anything that I hear. Can't wait to get a letter though. We may have to purchase a new mailbox soon. Not sure how much longer the door will stay attached if I don't stop opening it so much. :)
haha i know what you mean. i check the mail at least two times a day sometimes three or four. haha even after the mail has come i check it again just in case!
You got a phone call? You are so lucky. It's because of the security clearance information they needed, isn't it? What rating will she have?
I'm so glad she's loving it already. I hope there's a lot of that going around:)
Got a 1 minute phone call from her again last night while I was at work. The calls are always "business calls" about getting/sending info to the person working on her security clearance. The calls start with "this is a business call so I don't know how long I can talk" so I quickly write down whatever info she gives me or answer the question and then bombard her with my questions. I grew up in a small town in eastern North Carolina. It is one of those towns where everybody knows each other and their business. Not sure how it happened, but as an adult, I am not into the latest gossip like my mom was. I tend to stick to myself. If I hear something or want to know something, I simply ask. So...here are the answers to your questions and an update on our group..My daughters rating is CTI so she has been working on her security clearance. I am very curious (well, nosy is probably a better word) about what she is going through so I bombard her with questions. Our group has gotten IT every day since they have been in their ship. IT is "instructional training." I interpret it to be punishment in the form of exercise,( push-ups and other things that I would nver be able to do) for misconduct, mistakes, etc. Apparently, there has been some arguing among some of the division members that prompted some of the IT. Some is for the recriuts doing things incorrectly (the group can thank my child for some of this). Not surpised about any of that. What would you expect to happen when you stick a group of hormonal women in a room together with the stress involved with a major lifestyle change?? Couldn't pay me enough to be in that room!! LOL. My daughter has taken the PQS test and her swim test this week and did well on both. Would think that every one in the division is doing the same things, so am hoping that they all did well on these. THE BEST NEWS is that they will be getting their mail on Sunday!!! So, hopefully the our mailboxes will start filling up soon!!! Hearing that makes me so excited that I can't stop crying! That is all I can think of for now. My letters are full of questions for her. We have always been a family that talks about everything, so I miss hearing her talk about her day. Hope all of you hear from your recruits soon. Love to all! :)
