As described by some many PIR was just amazing!!! I agree name tags at the Meet and Greet would have been helpful but I still managed to say hi to so many of you....OmahaRudy, Aster, rnterry, Wyomom and more I know. Katrina it was great to seat and talk with you. I hope you had a safe drive back to Mass.
We had a great time this weekend. It was so great to seeing our sailor. He looked amazing. He had wonderful news for us....he didn't leave for A school until Sunday am. We had Friday, Saturday and some Sunday at the airport. I felt so blessed to have so much time....it was wonderful but it also made the leaving a bit hard again.
But is it nice now being able to text. I hope everyone had a great time with your sailor. Congrats to them and to us for surviving. When I asked my sailor how bootcamp really was....he responded....'Best decision I've ever made!!!!" But that doesn't mean he would go through it again...ha ha!!!!
I will continue to pop on now and then to keep in touch. And, of course, will check in on the bootcamp forum to help those behind us. Take care....
HAAAAA! Ok, Lisa....this is too funny! I'm sure SARGE got a laugh out of it. Oh my....I know at the time, it may have freaked you out as it would have me (message sent to Sarge!)....but sure is a great story now! So glad that you liked SARGE. I never got to meet him when we were up there back in 2010. Didn't know about him then...but have had nothing but rave reports from those who have met him.
Blessings to all of the new sailors in this group. Aren't you all loving that you are now back in contact with them? HOOYAH!
AMAZING!!!! It was so so good to see my daughter!!!! Meeting everyone was THE BEST!! Ruby is right, we needed name tags!! You must take tissues with you when you go. I would suggest that anyone going that will be on foot and using a taxi service, to use Sarge, he was great always there, full of information and funny!!! Now, lol, my middle daughter, Kelsey, lol this was her first time "out" and she was asking about Sarge and I had met him etc. She sends a text to her friend and was saying we are in this green van with a man named Sarge if anything goes wrong. She was scared and wanted her to know what was going on~~~using my phone mind you and accidently sent it to Sarge OMG lol good thing he wasn't upset he said you can never be to cautious I so wanted to crawl under the seat!!!!! And we stayed at the Ramada, old, our room was clean, an we really werent in it very long. Very nice people, but there is NOTHING around that you can walk to to eat or anything, so if on foot, to me not a good choice!!! PIR is great puffy chest proud!!!!!! Meeting everyone, all the moms that we all lean on while going through this is heart warming!!!!
Hi all! We made it there and back! What a wonderful experience! Sorry I did not get to meet you either OmahaRudy! We did not get into GL until 2300 on Thursday night. Then an early morning for the PIR! Our whole group was able to get in...7 of us. Then when liberty came...we went out for deep dish pizza and brought her back to the hotel. We just sat around and talked. It was great! I did not want to go too far and chance getting her back late! Then another early day today...went to OHare to get her electronics to her. We only stayed a couple of hours. Just long enough to have the emotions run deep! Plus we had a 6-7 hour drive home! I know she loved seeing us but I think she was even happier to get her phone! lol! She had a late flight anyway...I just can't seem to cut the cord! just jokin...just really hard with her being so far away! I had more tears bringing her back to base and saying good-bye at the airport than the PIR! Thank you all for the information and support on N4M!
i was at the meet n greet :) also i have a lot of pictures on my facebook of the PIR!!! if you ladies want to take a look fill free too :)
"your" not 'you" Ooops! Sorry....
OmahaRudy: Are you all going out to OHare to meet up with your sailor? I sure hope so! You can meet him at the USO center. Then get your airlines gate pass and wait at the gate with him until he leaves. When they announce the boarding of the sailors, all in the general vicinity give them standing ovations....I missed that with my son (was such a newbie, didn't realize we could go out there back then!)....but have heard wonderful descriptions of it from others.
Enjoy you day, everyone! Whether you are visiting today with GL A School sailors or those at the airport!
