Congratulations Lala!!  I am interested in the ribbons...can I friend you and get the information?   I know you are swamped with exciting things!  Also, whoever put the post for the flag...was this you Lala?  Thanks...I ordered mine.  My SR got to call when she got the letter about my dad...do you think she used her phone card then?  Trying to figure out if what she might have left...I don't want her to not be able to call because she can't!

Also...what week are our SR's in?  She left 5/31 and has this PIR date...do P days count?  If so, is she in week 2 or 3?  I read somewhere that they call halfway through....is that true?  Doesn't matter...my phone is ALWAYS with me:)  Thinking of you all and sending hugs!

Mel, I sent you an email with all the info for placing an order.

Just so everyone knows, the pic I posted on here of one of the ribbons for your PIR group is a ribbon with a first name on it. Please don't post last names on any public sites including N4M's or facebook. We always want to protect our Sailors :)

This is going to be a very busy and exciting week for me. I am getting married Saturday :-) My son asked me if I had my 10,000 navy mom friends are coming to the wedding lol. I wish you all could come. I love this site and all the friends I have made here.

I sent stamped envelopes, florida girl, and he said he didn't need them.  But others want them.  So I would just send a few and ask him in the letter if he wants more.

Yeah most calling cards use 35 minutes just to connect. Sometime they get cut off and have to call again or they may call several people when they gat a long call and every time another 35 min. So they use the cards up quickly and they can't always go to the nex. A lot of cell phone companies don't allow collect calls and if they do they are very expensive. My sailor called me collect on my cell and it was $9.00 for 10 min. Of course I would have paid $90 for that 10 min call lol. I was so excited to hear her voice :-)

I was going to do the stamp envelope thing, but my bf also wrote on the stationary. Should I send them anyways or maybe I should just send a few stamps or are those given to them along with the stationary?
Comment by diannep on June 19, 2011 at 9:02pm

It is always nice to send them an activated phone card (at least 500 min on it...they lose alot when connecting the calls on the pay phones). So they dont have to use their money to buy one.  Once-- when my son called when at bootcamp, his card expired in the middle of the call....he knew it was about to and told me not to worry, he would buy another and would call back....he was near the NEX and bought one right away and called back.

I did send my son some paper, stamped envelopes, but he didn't need them.  He used the Navy stationery when he was there.

We did send one but that's cause last minute I was like WAIT! You need all this! Hahaha

Mine never mentioned needing all that but ill get on that tomorrow.
Comment by Giraffe on June 19, 2011 at 7:48pm

florida girl.. nicole was correct.. They do need a calling card to make phone calls and can buy them from the NEX..

I hope all SR's find out before they go to boot camp about this.  you can also send them stamped envelopes with letters you send.. they can buy paper envelopes etc from the NEX.., but my Sailor had a difficult time making it to the NEX at times

Comment by Dallas_ann(ship03/div235) on June 19, 2011 at 7:47pm
I sent my hubby with one...and when he called Monday I asked if I need to send another one and he said he can buy them at the NEX.
