I know LaLa...I am also connecting with a young wife in the AF and an Army mom. Air Force I am familiar with...Army...I have to "educate" myself. They do have a facebook page...but the Navy is the only one with something like this.

I NEVER would have connected up with her if not for Navy4Moms and my DH being deployed.

I (WE) know what they are feeliing...

Is that what we call the "silver lining" in the (temporary)cloud?!

I was gonna say, it wasn't me lol because like Dianne I had no clue. We really do learn something new every day. You all will be happy to know that I met with a mom this afternoon who has a sone in DEP right now. He doesn't leave for boot until Sept. but she is going to go ahead and check out this site and join it and become "one of us" lol I just love Navy Moms, and wives, grandmothers, girlfriends, dads, husbands, heck everybody who cares so much about their future sailor that they spend hours and hours every day on this site trying to learn as much about the Navy and the journey their SR is on as they can.

It was Jessica! I have been saving some of her "standard" posts for reference and reread it there.

The italics and bold are mine.

The ship number identifies the building they are in (they also have a name of a famous ship, but few refer to them by the name). It's the Division number that is the most important - they will write that on their sailor hat and it will be there forever, throughout their Navy career! But the ship number is important when you send them letters. I know JessicaB has posted this before, but here's how you address their mail: (SR stands for Seaman Recruit - yes, you can abbreviate it)

Poo dianne-I'm sorry! You're the veteran I have the most interraction with so I thought it was you. You and LaLa...maybe it was her. Maybe I'm dreaming...it's a possibility...I went to get Del Taco today and was so distracted I pulled in to get gas instead. I start pumping and the thing shuts off right away!? I thought it was broken...I had just filled up yesterday. Oh yeah, food...duh.

Maybe it was JessicaBSailor. NOW I have to go find it to make sure!

Dianne- I am having them shortened. My ex was also military and I attended his Pir. Then we discovered feelings changed. Remained friends. Then I ended up meeting and falling in love with my boyfriend of 4 months:) it wasn't far for us, but I hope ill be alright. I have to wear heels at work everyday. Haha. Thank you for the warning and thought of saving my toes:)
Comment by diannep on June 13, 2011 at 9:09pm
nicole:  You want to wear more comfortable walking shoes to the PIR hall and then put the heels on inside.  I'm just saying....it is a little bit of a walk!  :-)
