Is anyone wondering why one pants leg is rolled up when you get their clothes back? That was such a mystery to me lol. It is because they are told to roll them up to be fitted for shoes and they are never giving permission to roll them back down so they just leave them lol. Don't you think the people who are there fitting them and spouting out commands probably have bets going on how many will leave the pants rolled up lol.

I remember when I got "The Box" and between us I didn't wash his clothes till his PIR. I wanted to smell him. This was by far the most difficult experience I have been through, but as the days go by it gets better.

I think you get a letter a week after the box. I had mine ready. lol. The phone calls where 3 in total and I hate to say it,but the less calls you get it means they are doing well. Go figure! I had my phone glued to me. The first call was a month into Boot camp and lasted an hour. Best hour. It was a sat in the fitting room at Marshalls. lol. Write lots of letters and encourage your Sailors. They need it. My son said the first 2 months were the toughest. Also ask about Sailors who don't have support from their families. My son said some of the guys NEVER got letters. Its so sad. You can write to them to and encouarge them.

Good luck to you all!!!

HM:  The form letter with that info is usually received within the first 2 weeks of them arriving.  However, sometimes it takes a bit longer, sometimes ir comes earlier.

When did your SR arrive there?  Processing sometimes can take up to 10 days or 2 weeks.  They have to "fill" all of the divisions in their PIR group so if your SR was one of the first ones up there for that PIR group, the wait time for your letter could be longer.  But hopefully you will will have it soon!

I'm glad Betsy and Lala are now on here.  Lala makes beautfiul ribbons for you all to purchase and wear to PIR...check out her page with the pictures.  Betsy's sailor PIRed in Dec 2010.  So...between us, we have lots of info for you!  Hoping that a few other veterans will join us soon.
