OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi Macsmama,

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!  I just want to let you know that with such an unusual name for your SR, it would be better if you change your username and delete your SR's name here because sometimes the Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs) come on these groups to look for info on their SRs.  Better for them to be "incognito" here!  You can copy and repost without your SR's name.  Delete this old post by clicking on the "X" on the upper right corner~~  Thanks!

Victorsmom,

Are you typing the password all in caps?  That should work!

Hi everyone tried to print the parking pass today. The password not working. Does someone know how far of a walk from the navy lodge to the PIR building. I'm thinking we may not receive a new password in time. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning Navy family, I am spending the weekend with lots of family celebrating my Sailor's baby girls first birthday <3 I can't believe she is a year old already. My how time flies. I hope you all are having a great weekend. Remember to take time to enjoy each day, you don't get them back. Your recruits will hopefully get to spend some time today writing to you about their week so do something fun and write them about your adventure. Today I am going to ride a jet ski for the first time ever in my life. Wish me luck lol. Time to brag and show off my beautiful 1yr old granddaughter Eastyn; she is such a sweet sweet baby <3
