OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I'm sorry I'm just now commenting on PIR. the experience was something I cannot even express. It was the best ever!!! I cant stop thinking about it and looking at pictures. Im truly thankful to all who journeyed this with me. I spoke with some moms who didn't know anything about this sight or the meet and greet and I'm going to tell as many as I can about this. This was a God sent! Thank you and Lord bless you and your Sailor!!

PIR was amazing!  No---better than that.  There is no word to describe just how wonderful it was!  Seeing those big doors come up was spine-tingling!  Watching the divisions march in one by one...I was so proud of all of them!  And seeing my son, hugging his neck, spending the day with him...Priceless!  Thank you to all of you here on this site. Without you I don't know how I would have gotten thru these past nine weeks.  The information from those that moderate this site is priceless.  Thank you each and every one of you!  HOOYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
