Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by ellen0502 on August 8, 2015 at 12:03pm: Yep vince, Like diannep said we are spies! LOL Not really, diannep and FTLW were the ones who helped me through the process when my son was in BC. I joined N4M in early 2012 and decided to stay after my son graduated, Catmom joined about a year after me and we all just hung around. :)

Between us we dealt with different stuff when our kids were in BC. The asmo'd process, PUSH divisions, pulling of teeth, sick kids, healthy kids, failing tests etc, and much of what we learn is from you all giving us updates, and letting us know the scoop.

The Navy is unpredictably predictable, but the outcome for your recruits is the same...United States Sailors!

We have been on the site for a very long time....I am the oldie goldie, both in age :-) and length of time on here since I have been helping out since my son's PIR back in early 2010! CatMom joined our N4Moms veteran team 2 yrs or so later, and ellen right after that. We had a couple of more who helped as well, but haven't seen them post recently. One of them is over the the FB groups. The other one will be back soon after tending to "home fires."

Soooo....our info is from lots of experience on this site! Some of the ladies are nice enough to post after their PIR to let us know if there have been changes or if our info is right on. So, we do the best that we can to make sure you have the correct info!
