N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Lynn,

Ask Sarge what a one-way trip will be.  It might be about $50, then call your hotel to see if there is car rental agencies they work with and get a rate on just renting a car to go to the airport~~  His number is 847-212-0246.  If she is staying at your Great Lakes hotel with you, it's only 35 minutes to O'Hare if you could drop her off.

Thank you diannep!!! I have a question. My sister is leaving Saturday evening from O'Hare. How difficult will it be for her to get a taxi? Should she rent a car?

Although some will put their sailor's last names on the ribbons they may choose to wear to PIR and on their door banners, it is really up to you.  I would probably err on the side of caution if not sure and not do it.  Put his last name all over the INSIDE of your hotel room!  That would be safer!

Nervous, excited, and proud all rolled into one! Hoping my daughter remembers that she needs to call me on my cell since I'm gone for the week.

Hi, Karen93! I heard from my son in 273. They are doing great! He was excited about the "shipwrecked" photo the division took but not so much about the peanut butter shot he had. He said they were doing firefighting. Surprisingly, the gas chamber wasn't too bad. He said I'd hear from him August 12th.

Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.....I guess that answers my question which I think I knew already....:)

I have a question and would like your advice. I am making a poster to put on my door at Springhill Marriot. I understand there are families doing it that are staying at the Navy Lodge and they are putting on their poster "Sailor and the last name". Do you think it is safe to put my "sailor and last name on my poster considering where I'm staying? I also thought well maybe I could put "Sailor and first name" is that appropriate? I am putting the Division #, which I think doesn't  divulge pertinent information. Thank you for any advice you may have on this subject
