for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

vince,
Those who are wearing Dress Whites should be sure that their neon pink, orange, or green underwear are not showing through!! Lol!!!
ellen0502.
Lol!! So funny!!
Karen93: The new sailors themselves do not know their flight plans until right before PIR since orders are not issued until they complete BattleStations. I agree with ellen...plan on a Sat. departure, plan to meet your sailor at the airport in the wee hours to spend time with your sailor, take ID so you can secure an airlines gate pass to wait until your sailor departs at the gate....all are bussed there early in the morning to.....WAIT....flights go on throughout the day starting early in the morning. On occasion, some sailors may not fly out until Sunday so try and book your own return on Sunday if possible so as not to miss any time with your sailors.
Hello All!
"For we were saved in this hope,
but hope that is seen is not hope;
for why does one still hope for what he sees?
But if we hope for what we do not see,
we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."
Romans 8:24-25
LaCheez, You can take a few civies to him, but don't overdo it. There is not much extra storage in their room, and he may have changed shape or size while in BC. They also cannot wear civilian clothes (except in their room) until they have phased up, which takes several weeks.
There are also rules on civilian clothes. Jeans must not be frayed, torn, patched, etc, and the pant cuff cannot touch the ground etc. T-shirts that are black or white must have something printed on them to distinguish them from "underwear". My son will also not wear a plain navy blue shirt, as it may be mistaken for "underwear."
As for the Keurig, nope might not be allowed in his room, and again storage space is limited and it would need to be stored when he is not in his room. Same for the cup, he would not be able to have it in school, but he can probably have it in his room.
Sailors muster for school in front of their ship, and then march to and from the building together, so nothing in their hands. I am not sure he would get much use out of it in his room either.
The phone no problem he can take it back to base with him Friday night after liberty.
Here is a story about "underwear" at A School at GL PIR weekend. :)
On Saturday my oldest son was the one with my Sailor when he checked into his Ship after liberty. In front of them there was a group of female Sailors also returning from liberty. They were all carrying pretty little pink striped shopping bags, and giggling. As with all Sailors when checking back into the ship, all packages inspected before they can enter.
Inside at the desk were two Sailors, one experienced at the door duty and the other "in training." The sailor who was learning the ropes at the desk was a young and very, very, very southern gentleman, and he was the one to check the group in.
When the girls got to the desk he said loudly, in his very, very, very southern drawl said, "Oh Lawd...Now I gotta look through all y'alls drawers." It gave everyone there a good laugh.
Karen93, There is not a site for looking up when your Sailor leaves for A School. Do plan on them flying out on Saturday as most, if not all Sailors will fly out at that time.

Good morning everyone, just got a call from my SR & he passed his final PFA YAY!!! I'm so proud of him! He said Div 268 are doing their BAttlestations *(OPSEC), so I'm excited & nervous for them.. Can't wait to get the "I'm a Sailor" call *(OPSEC). Hope everyone has a great day!
*(Battlestations info removed, the RTC considers this ship movement)
